Looking at New Montys
Terrie and I have started looking at new Montanas recently. We love our 2005 3400RL, but some of the new upgrades are really nice. We have thought about moving down in size to the 3075 or changing to a new floorplan like the 3500 RL. It doesn't appear that there is a significant difference (over a 500 lbs) between these and the 3400RL. We have towed our 3400 many thousands of miles and spent almost 200 nights in it since we got it. Not near what the fulltimers do, but for working fulltime, we spend a lot of time enjoying our Montana. We have not had any problems. We would like to hear what others have experienced with these models. Anyone downsize and then wish they hadn't? Anyone downsize and they liked it? We now have tripled our grandkids (twins) in the last two weeks and need to look at the fact we may have more company. With fuel prices, what have you experienced if you went up/down in size? Thanks in advance.

As with houses, trucks, campers, and waistlines, downsizing takes a lot of courage.

We owned our first Montana only 11 months before we decided to go up to the 3400RL. We could never go down in size now. I don't think you would see much difference in towing or fuel mileage either.

You will adapt to the space you have. After 14 months we think we have the major bugs worked out of our 06 3400 and we do NOT want to go through the de bugging process again.

Thanks for the input. With two new grandchildren arriving three weeks ago, I imagine the extra room will get filled quickly. We will have gotten almost four full seasons out of our Monty if we trade this winter. It is still in great shape, so I want to make sure that it is worth trading and not just a status thing.

We recently traded in our 2003 2850RK for a new 3400RL and our gas mileage is better. Same truck pulling the both. The new model feels better pulling. We love all the room in the new floor plan. We had so much trouble with cabinets bouncing open in the old rear kitchen model. Not every one does but we could write a book on those stories. Good Luck!
