Slide covers & snow?

Just a question for those of you with the slide out covers. Have any of you been in areas were it snows with these covers? If so, did you have to go out and clean them off or any other issues? Just curious if the snow caused any problems with the covers.

We only had it once and it didn't create any problems.

In Western Washington state we do not get tons of snow but a few years we have and it caused no problems for my toppers as they are spring loaded and the weight of the snow just pushed the toppers till they sat on top of the slide and when we would pack up and go to another resort I just sucked in my slides and the snow would just fall off

Broom them off prior to closing slide otherwise no problem. Ice can possible due some damage to the fabric when bringing slides. A few years back not knowing I had a thin layer of Ice on the slide awnings when I hit the button to retract the slides I herd a noise of breaking glass scared the heck out of us.No damage to the fabric

Wintered one year in Colorado, would go out periodically and sweep the snow off.

The problem we have had is the snow will melt when it contacts the roof of the slide, and freeze the fabric to the roof. Of course this will depend on the outside temps and how/if they change and how much heat passes thru the slide roof from the inside. Once frozen any new snow just insulates the ice even further.
Once the fabric is frozen to the roof, it wont retract as the slide comes in. So now you have a second problem, how to free the frozen fabric without destroying the fabric.

In anything more than a light dusting of snow - 'a skiff' as we would call it, keeping the snow off the toppers is my advice. I have been told of using inflated auto inner tubes between the fabric and the slide roof to keep the fabric supported, but have never tried this. If you do this, put a rope on each tube so they are easy to pull out.

We spent 1 winter in the snow and didn't have a problem with the toppers but didn't retract the slides until the snow melted in the spring.

We have lived in our trailer through numerous winters and the most snow fall has to go to our time in NH. If you do not intend to retract the slide then no issues, if we got a heavy snow we would clean the snow off the roof and topper but not necessarily required.

Traveling has been a different story a heavy snow wants to roll up in the topper or keep it from rolling in at all so a quick broom to clean it off and all is well.
