Reliability unknown

This was just posted off of another RV forum site. How accurate it is I don't know but it does not sound good to me!

"Just so you all will know...if traveling down I-75 NEVER take your RV to Mid-State!!! While you wait forever to get service they will use parts off your RV to repair another!!!!!"

Hopefully, it is an exaggeration but one can never tell! Anyone ever used these people for repairs?

I can't imagine a RV service center taking parts off someone's rig to fix another

I would hope they wouldn't steal parts from a Customers unit, but when we purchased on Monty they did steal the table and chairs from another on the lot as someone had already swapped for the OEM table and chairs that belonged in the unit we were purchasing.......so you never know.

Here's my story. About 7 years ago I bought a new SOB from a dealer in Eugene, Or. in the fall. The next summer during a hot weather stretch I couldn't get my ac to cool down. I called the dealer and they recommended I call the Dometic service folks with the help of another SOB dealer in Wenatchee, Wa where I was close to. They came out and said I had a dead ac unit, ordered a new one, installed it 2 days later, it worked and life was good. Except I could never get my rig to cool off totally during the hot days. I finally checked on the roof and discovered they installed a 13.5K unit when I should have had a 15K. I called them and they said they replaced/installed exactly what was on the roof.

Then I called the original dealer mad as hell and told them what had happened and what are you going to do about it. They called back and confessed they had taken the original ac unit to put on another customers unit that needed it immediately and installed the dead unit on my rig I had purchased but not picked up. They said come on down (350 miles south) and they would give me a new replacement. This forced me to make an impromptu stop on one of out trips south to get the job done.

I had originally checked the ac unit during the walk thru and everything worked so we shut it off immediately as it was fall and the heat was more important at the time. Big lesson learned!

I'm betting you won't buy another RV from that dealer!

It's a real shame we have to worry about dealers pulling that type of stuff.

When we did our PDI, the wife noticed a long, deep scratch on the top of the dining table. They pulled one out of another new Montana, and swapped it out on the spot.

I often wonder who the poor sap was that didn't notice the scratch, bought the Montana, pulled it off the lot, noticed it later, and was told, "Gee, you must have scratched it after delivery, ....sorry!"

They do it all the time.

Now, pulling parts off a customers rig, that is just too far! Though, I do imagine that it happens occasionally, with techs thinking that it is a trade-in or dealer owned rig.
