Looking for Chicago Area CG

Chicago is woefully equipped with camping facilities. Last time we stayed at Hollywood Casino - $50 a night with no wifi, no full hookups. We are looking for someplace to camp close to Park Forest (South of I80 and East of Joliet). We have stayed as far south as the KOA in Kankakee. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Ron, Since you have been there before-
What highway do you travel from the Chicago area to Goshen?

I am coming up 57,
would you recommend 80 to 294 toll to 94 E.
Our some other direction.

Thanks
Joe

Joe -

I would say it depends on day and time of day. I assume you are coming up through Memphis and then over to 57. You can then take I70 over to Indy and come up I65. If you come up to the 94 corridor, they'll nail you for tolls. I have to go talk to them about a $129 bill for tolls with my Ipass from July.

Check on the Kane county web site for their two forest preserve campgrounds. Maybe a little far north for u but the are very nice with 50 amp service and water for $25

That's too far. Might just end up at the casino again.

I have some Trailer Life info that shows there is a GOOD SAM campground about 7 miles SW of Joliet called "Leisure Lake Resort" with high ratings but is about $50 a night (2010 rate). I don't have any personal experience there, but it's there. The TL ratings: Park:9.5, Restrooms: 9.5, Visual:9. Many of these membership CGs have set aside sites for the public, so if you can afford their price, you might give them a shot.
