Got the first set of numbers from our dealer today..They passed the first test..I will meet with them face to face this week. There are still some negotiable numbers. For the same truck we now have,,but..with the 6.4L diesel, 4X4, Up lifter switches. Electronic shift on the fly, Engine block heater,Heavy duty alternator and destination charge (925) the x plan price with the rebate is 42,518.96..not bad but no cigar..We need to talk trade in, transfering hitches, spray in bed liner, etc. We have some numbers from another dealer some distance away but are good negotiating numbers. The good thing is I don't care...they meet my terms or no sale.

I wish it were so. That only works from your PC where the cookie (likely) is cached. Any other PC needs the Userid/Password to get in. And I suspect you aren't going to give that information away indiscriminately?

What color did you order Rich????? I think you should probably let Helen pick out the color, as you will be driving it the most. It would be nice to see your new truck in BRANSON MAY 2008. I will buy you a cup of something, I don't have a darn blender>>>

BEWARE of the hidden costs....the shady dealers say anything to get you to come sit down at their dealership's.

Rich, the x-plan by Ford and the supplier cost are good prices. However many times I have bet those prices at the larger dealers because they do more volume and get more kick back on the back end.

Delivery charges to different areas of the country; different region incentives also play a big part and then there is the dealer size (volume). Some are just more willing to do business, especially right now near the end of the month.

Spent 3.5 hours at my local dealer talking truck..No I did not place a order,The X plan + rebate price on a well equipped 08 4X4 Dually, 6.4L.pretty much the same as my 05 but 4X4 and diesel is ok,42,518.96. They offered 22,300 for my 05 V-10 which is a fair trade in price but stipulated that If they could find one that met my needs from dealer stock (somewhere) they would offer more. What they did not know is I do not want to order one because we would most likely not be here when it came in.I said there certain things I MUST have on a tow vehicle and if you can find one fine. They also said that if they find one that has MORE than I want(within reason) they would be freebee's.
I am finding out if my fold-a-cover, V-tailgate and bed rails are transferable.Told them that was a lock out issue (i was lying) and they said no problem we will include what does not fit in the price. My pockets are not as deep as they where in 05 when we paid cash for the truck so I had a concern about financing (poor old government pensioner who needs to drive a school bus to make ends meet routine) Still not convinced that I need a new truck and Helen is no help at all as she says...sure ...go ahead and buy it. Will let the dealer stew for a few days..then ask them to find me a truck that meets my needs locally ( I have already done the search. I know were they are and ALL of them are more than I ordered. This is such fun. Oh..I will be driving a School bus full time now till we leave for Flordia as a nearby city had their School levy fail and they cut school bus transportation to our school.. I was called up to active duty..that will help in the bucks department.

In the past you could order a new vehicle and take delivery at any dealer in the USA. The fact that he is going to throw in all of those freebies tells me there is a lot more room to negotiate. Add up the price of all the freebies and subtract it from the price, then order it and take delivery in Florida.

The X plan (or any of the employee plans) are the same , Ohio, Flordia, California.Tne negotating points are, Trade in, and things like, hitch installation, etc. The dealer is still doing a profit at the employee plan pricing and there is always the "dealer holddback" It was 1190.00 on my 05 and likely more on a 08 so the dealer has room to throw in freebies....if they want to,,depends on how bad Ford wants to sell trucks and they need to sell them real bad . I know I can get at least 1K more on the trade in.. In this case I am trying to see how low they will go because I don't care if we get the new truck or not.The first trade in value he gave me was 21,300..he said "acceptable" I said I already know what the KBB value is and thats not it. They are now offering 22,300 and hinting higher IF I order in the next few days. I have till Sept 3rd so If we order guess when it will be. You got to play the game...

I don't know about Ford, but with Chevy, it's really easy with the employee pricing. The best way to do it:
- Order EXACTLY what you want.
- Sell the old TV separately (no trade).
- Write check/pick up new truck.
- Try not to grin all the way home.
