2007.5 Chevy 3500 ???????

Total DISAPOINTMENT with GM, today got a call from my saleman to discuss submiting the order for our Chevy 1 ton dually. Was told they worked up the order yesterday, and was calling to get the ok to order. There is no rebates on the new body style, and today GM put a hold on the Duramax 1 tons. Also the Diesel Particulate filter (DPF) is located in the exhaust system and when it collects so many polutants it must go into REGEN and burn it off, there will be a lite on the dash area and will come on during the burn process then the Truck must be run for some time to complete the burn (1200 degrees) if it doesn't burn off in three attempts the computer will put the Truck in limp mode, and you will have to take it to the dealership for repair and its not under warranty. The DPF system is suppose to last for 200,000 mile?????? You must then replace it at a cost 0f $2,300 or more. Remember the exhaust converter, here we go again being mess over by the goverment again. Tree huggers has really hurt the Diesel Trucks and it just the begining.. So I guess my Chevy Kodiak is a keeper and its paid for...GBY.....

P.S. I must say I haven't seen this in writing........

The new pollution requirements is why I bought a "Classic." You need to read what you are suppose to do to put it through a regen cycle at dealer. Can't be done indoors, high RPM's for extended periods, etc.

For me, it was one of the reasons. Any time a US car builder makes a new model, initially, I don't have much confidence in that product.

Any and all emission control equipment is covered under warranty up to 50,000 miles under federal law!
Id venture to guess the growing pains coming from adapting to the emissions equipt and ULSD will be very similar to the 1970s when we switched to unleaded gas, there will be issues, some will be angry some wont but we'll survive. These issues are the exact reason I bought a 2006.

We share your frustration. We were as close as you were to ordering. Any update from your dealer as to the accuracy of what you heard? The two dealers I've talked to are playing deaf and dumb. I thought by state law they had to reveal any problems like this if asked. Don't know how to proceed / or not proceed.

Any update from your dealer on the hold on 07 3500HD or the regen situation? My dealer not saying anything yet.

Just the reason for buying a 2007 Classic when we considered trading in our 2006. Was told it could take up to 18 hours to burn off the particulates!

I read an article in some diesel rag that said the DPF and regen are not a temporary fix but will be around for a long time, like the catalytic converter. Surely they can come up with something better than this.

Again, that is why we bought the 2007 3500 Silverado Classic, while it was still available. Maybe there are still some out there if you look around.
