eyebrow lighting
I own a 2013 3625RE Montana. The eyebrow 12V LED lights on the front cap have been getting dimmer over time and some of the LED's have burned out altogether. I purchased new ones online, from a website recommended by some of you from this MOC site. Today I decided to switch them out. I carefully removed the old LED rope and gingerly removed the silicone adhesive while bringing out the slack from the wires through the holes. Wired them up, but I don't have any power to the front cap eyebrow wires, zip, nothing. I started trouble shooting. All other 12V lights go on, plus I checked the integrity of the switch in the control box and all is functioning properly; i.e., I have electricity at the switch and it's working. Incidentally, all circuit breakers and GFCI all working as well. All other switches are working too. Just no power to the eyebrow circuitry on the front cap. Went into the closet (behind the front cap) and removed the top cabinet to access the wires, however; ran into all this batted fiberglass insulation on the front cap as expected. Question now is, do I make a cut through the insulation to see if there is a disconnect where the wires come out of the front cap? And, where to I cut the insulation and how to I repair it, with tape? Everything else I've traced seems to point to something inside the cap where the wires come from. Wires are still fastened to something, however; I believe the wire has been disconnected somehow, somewhere. Curious if any of you have had this problem before. Figured I'd run this by the owners before proceeding. Thanks

the wiring has to be exact on the LED strips from my experience so try switching the wire leads and see what happens.

Ditto what was said. Most leds are polarity sensitive, only a few have circuitry to allow them to work either way. Meter the wires to find out IF there really isn't power there. And yes, you can just swap wires to see if they light up...but only a meter will id power yes or no and which wire is plus 12 vdc. John

I'm just grabbing here but do you have a remote to control some of your exterior lighting?

Double check and see if the eyebrow lights are wired into the ODS scare light, or some other switch.

Thanks for the input. They were polarity sensitive. There's no remote and they're not connected to the scare light. They are a separate circuit going through the panel, registering between a 6 or 12 V. I had them hooked following color matched wiring, but after reversing them, the LED's produced light. Interesting, that there is such a minute amount of voltage going to the eyebrow lights, it was barely sensitive to any of my neighbors volt meters. Maybe I'll buy my own now. lol

Glad to see you got it figured out.
