Electrical problem in galley slide-out
Hello friends. We have an issue in our 2002 Montana. We used the outside outlet with our electric skillet and the outlet worked fine. Then we were inside the cabin and attempted to turn on the electric fireplace with no success. We checked the outlet the fireplace is plugged in to and it was dead. We then checked the remaining outlets and lights to find all of them dead just in the galley slide-out. We have replaced the GFI, all fuses and checked the breakers. We cannot find the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? We are at a loss as to what to try to do next. Thank you in advance for any assistance given. Kevin and Chris

Under the slide there should be a junction box. Check for a loose wire there.

Is the outside outlet now dead also? Or does it still work?
Also a tripped breaker does not flip the handle to the OFF position. It just moves it slightly off of the ON position. If the handle appears to be slightly out of line with the others and you press It toward the ON position and it feels "soft" then it is tripped. In that case turn it off and back on to reset it.

Check for a 2nd GFI. Had a similar problem and that's how I discovered I had 2.

The outside outlet is also dead. We actually changed the GFI in the bathroom thinking it might have blown out. Still did not help. We have turned all breakers off and on and still have the problem. We checked the junction box under the slide for any loose wires or wire caps and all is good there too. There are other GFI breakers in the dining and galley area but none of them have a reset button. Just a label that says GFI. Does anyone think that maybe the outside outlet may need changed and is the problem since that is the outlet I was using with the electric skillet? I just don't see how an electric skillet could have blown an entire circuit but who knows. We were using it with a 5500 watt generator which ran fine while I fried the chicken. Thanks for all the input. Keep thinking family as we need this resolved prior to next camping season. About to wrap up the hunting season and bring it home for the winter and will repair during the off season. Thank you all again.

I think an outlet with a GFCI sticker but without a reset button means it is a standard outlet wired from a GFCI outlet. Probably you have another GFCI outlet with a reset button that you have not found yet. Somewhere in the kitchen area? In the basement maybe? Keep looking as I expect you have more than one GFCI outlet.

Perhaps try using a multimeter and check each power post on your breakers since I can't suggest which one. If one shows no power, then you've found the culprit.
I may be wrong but the OP has a 2002 fiver ... I don't remember my 2000 2850RK having but one GFI.

Does the GFCI outlet you changed out have power?

We had a similar issue with our 08 3400. The GFI would trip the moment power was applied to the kitchen circuit.
After much investigation, it turned out to be a loose ground screw in the junction box under the slide. It looked fine, but the wire was not in contact with the back of the junction box. Might be worth another look in that junction box.
