GM 3500HD/Trailer Saver ????
For those that are have a 2011 Chevy 3500HD DRW's and have a Trailer Saver air ride hitch did you have to use the 2" spacers that Trailer Saver sells to get enough bedrail clearance ??? Thanks for your help.

We have a 2011 Chevy 3500 SRW (the wheels/tires are bigger) and a Trailer Saver hitch. We just put the three inch spacer in and I'm happier with it. I had a two inch spacer but wanted all the space I could get. Right after I installed the bigger spacer, I discovered that I could have moved the pin box down for more room. Without adequate space, the back edge of the pin box will contact the edge of the bed (don't ask me how I know).
Good luck.
Walt

Thanks Walt, I'm going to order the Trailer Saver with the 2" spacer. I have a regular pin box so I don't think I will have the issue of contact on the side rail. I did have that issue with a Trailair Pin box.... Thanks again...

Yes shooterdad, we just wasn't using the Freightliner that much, we now tend to stay longer in one place. And I also was always over length (75') when we doubled towed the Chevy HHR, in most all States the limit was 65'. So we traded the Chevy HHR in for a 2011 Buick Lucerne CXL and since we aren't double towing the 2011 Chevy Dually fits our need much better. And I'm also selling the 2008 Chevy Silverado C/C. Less insurance and we will have no Car or Truck payment's which is a plus for us. Now its going to get busy, have to get a new Trailer Saver ordered and installed. We have our National Rally starting 6 June...

We picked up the new 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500HD dually and in the process ordered a custom hauler bed with a 50 in bed fuel tank. Will be about a month before we get the new hauler bed, I'm having it painted the same as the Chevy 3500HD.
Delaine also traded in the 2011 Buick Lucerne CXL and my 2008 Chevy Silverado and got a 2011 Chevy Tahoe. She only had 350 miles on the Buick but it just wasn't she wanted... I will order the Trailer Saver and then when the hauler bed is installed I will put the Trailer saver in the hauler bed....

Sold it I think its going to Texas. Not sure thought, we picked up a new 2011 3500HD and a 2011 Tahoe Z71. Just ordered a Trailer Saver air ride TS 3. Also order a hauler bed for the 3500HD. Don't have many miles but its a HOSS. Can't wait until I set the 4,200 of pin weight and see what it will do... Did you go back to a Chevy yet ????

Lindy,
I actually went to the Ram - bought a 2011 Ram 3500HD SRW Crew long bed 4x4 with the new Cummins. Wanted the Duramax, but the new exhaust fluid is already creating issues up here when the temps drop below 10 degrees. Being we can hit -20 during the winter months, I decided to go with the Ram as it does not require the new fluid. Bought the Ram 2 months ago and have 6k on it already - so far I am very happy with the performance and especially the fuel economy. My 2010 F350 w/ the 6.4L could not get anything better than 12 mpg - did not matter the speed or the load. This new Ram is already averaging 16/17 at 80 mph empty and it is not even broke in yet.
Look forward to seeing a few photos of your new ride! Enjoy and congrats!!!

Good choice, that DF want be a issue for us. We never stay in cold weather. We have been wintering in Florida the last two winters. I think Cummins want have to go to the Fluid until 2014. The cab and chassis are already using the DF, I know the Freightliners are using it now also.. So for I haven't heard or met anyone who has had a issue. But I just can't go with anything except GM Trucks as for as the 1 tons... I will get pic when the hauler bed is mounted... Take care....
