Just did a MSN Maps and Directions plot.
Don't know if you are just on the way to MN or want to dawdle.
This is shortest time:
Phoenix
Albuquerque
Wichita
Topeka
Des Moines
Minneapolis
total 1645.8 miles, 24 hours 41 min.

Having doe this many times, let me tell you, you have two decisions. Phoenix to Albuquerque via Flagstaff or via Payson and Showlow. The first is reliable and faster. The second is scenic and shorter. We usually do the Flagstaff route. The other is Amarillo to Witchita via highway 54 or via 40 and 35 via Ok City. The forst saves 90 miles but it is a lot of two lane while the other is all interstate. Personally, I like to watch the farmers on 54. But, Vikki like the interstate convenience. Both work. BTW, we have also done the Phoenix to ABQ thing through Tucson but that is a lot of extra miles. It has the feature of very few mountains if that is a factor.

Thanks for all your input. My buddy just took the Phoenix to Payson route and then 54 to Whita route and was happy with that. Hope it works . John
