Successful trip to Newfoundland and back
We are now in Bar Harbor Maine, resting and catching up on things, after a successful trip to Newfoundland. We had many new experiences along the way, including a six hour ferry trip to the island, but our Monty and truck performed without any hiccups. We found Newfie to be a beautiful place with the friendliest people anywhere and we wish we had a longer time to visit. We paid the Canadian price for diesel (roughly $1.35 per liter) as well as for food but it was well worth every penny. An added plus to our visit was being able to get up close and personal with icebergs at the northern tip of the island in St. Anthony. It is rare to have them this late into the season so we were just plain lucky. The icebergs we saw broke off of a record breaking berg that started out about the size of Rhode Island wuite some time ago. We heard that National Geographic was in the area capturing this record breaker but we didn't see them. We're proud of our little Monty for an error free trip and can't wait to do it again someday. We would recommend this trip to anyone desiring something a little bit different then what we get on the mainland.
