You could consider Americamps in Ashland, just off 95 coming into Richmond. It is OK but not great. The only other place is Pocahontas State Park in the South West corner of Chesterfield County, which lies SW of Richmond, also somewhat marginal, I think the stimulus package hasn't found its way there yet. Sorry there are not more great campgrounds in the Richmond area. Otherwise you could go on down to Williamsburg, 30 miles East, where there is a KOA. Richmond itself has many historical sites, including battlegrounds, and some great historical museums, but Williamsburg is more the vacation spot with Colonial Williamsburg as the highlight. Let us know if you need more specific information. John and Dorothy Weber
