tadi backup camera installation questions
has anyone installed a Tadi backup camera on their rv? my biggest questions is how did you mount it to the rv and where and did you tap into the running lights to power it and the antenna. did you drill a hole thru to the inside of the rv and mount the antenna in a cabinet or.......? my plan was to put it right below the middle running light on the montanna in the back and tap into the running light. I believe that sounds right but not sure. the wireless transmitter has me a little stumped. I quess you drill like a 1/2 hole and use a rubber gorment afterwards. any ideas or pictures would be appreciated before I start drill holes to nowhere lol.
thanks

Our unit is tied into the running lights. We mounted the camera below the center light by drilling a small hole with a grommet and silicone to seal it. The wireless transmitter is mounted just to the right of the light with the wires routed out thru the bottom of the light. As a little side note we just pulled in a hard wire to the hitch as the signal was not strong enough. Now we have a clear signal all the time.

I put my camera inside the back window up close the glass with the sun shade touching the glass.

Always a little different here but was not eager to add holes to my rear cap so I removed our centre running light and mounted it in place of it and of course used the power from the running light.

Are you aware that by removing that light you are no longer DOT compliant? You are required to have all 5 red lights on the rear and they must be working.

Yes David you make a great point but I was more interested in trying a location and making sure all is well than anything else. My thought last spring was to get around to mounting a smaller clearance light perhaps on the camera sun shield but I never got around to it.
Last fall we made a 1000 mile round trip from Canada down in to the US without any 2nd looks from anyone. Our local guys say they are more interested in other equipment infractions, weight, and tail lights, brakes, than anything else. You are more apt to get pulled over if you look overweight or run with run down equipment which we don't.
Come spring I may complete my job, but then again......
