I am not holding my breath Steve. The new one had better be a good one. We did look around in the area of Rv we could afford and do not see anything better. They all look and are built alike.

RV connection just left. Cooling unit had a slow Ammonia leak. Little yellow spots all over the place when you look in the rear. Never smelled anything. Cooling unit is shot and a new one is on order. We will be in Florida a bit longer.

We are glad we have the extended warranty.Just this one failure was more than the entire 7 years contract. 5 hours labor alone to install.

I know a lot of people spout off about how stupid extended warranties are and they are not worth it and we are crazy to buy them. Yes, it is a crap shoot that you are taking, gambling that if something goes wrong that we get our money out of it. But a case like this where a major appliance breaks they pay for themselves and makes it all worth it. We gamble on lots of stuff from the lotto to car insurance so what is one more thing. I was one that never bought extended warranties till I met my wife lol lol she lives by them.... But we bought livingroom furniture 4 years ago and paid the $140 for extended warranty on it. Two years ago the mechanism on the recliner broke and they came out and fixed it. Last month the handle and cable that works the recliner broke. Well they no longer make that line of furniture. We just had delivered all brand new furniture, couch, love seat and recliner for free just because they could not fix the handle on the recliner. And yep we paid the $160 for the extended warranty on the new furniture..... I would rather work an extended warranty into the deal and not have to worry bout a $1000+ repair bill 2 or 3 years down the road.

Follow up. The entire cooling unit is one the way. We had no problem with the Extended warranty company. We deal with Camping Connection Rv service here in Kissimmee, fl. They have many Mobil Rv trucks and are excellent. They also know how to deal with Extended warranty companies. It took less than 24 hours from fridge failure to diagnosis of problem to confirmation the cooling unit is on the way. Camping connection took care of everything. We will have to tough it out and stay in florida for another week.

It is going to cost us 50.00 out of pocket..

Looks like our new Big Sky may be in Ohio before we will. This one will have almost new fridge.. The difference in price between a entire new fridge and a cooling unit only was 300.00 but the Warranty company would not spring for it.

The main reason I spring for the extended warranties is that at this point in life I don't want and at times can't deal with unexpected major expenses. I know what it costs when I buy it, plus the warranty and then I don't have to worry about it.

We have had the 2006 3400 for 6 years. We are looking for this 2012 to be not only technology improved but improved in Construction and quality. We will be reporting on both.

The 3402 Big Sky came off the line May 3rd but had to go over for the paint job which will take about two weeks. We are not at all ready for the new unit as we just got home Saturday and are in the process of taking everything out of the 06 3400 and the thing is dirty.I would be ashamed to turn it in looking like this.

Hi Rich,

Ours was supposed to come off the line right about the same time. Hopefully we both got a good unit with good craftsmanship! I'm hoping ours is close to getting moved out to the dealer, or maybe even on the way...

Oh, and as an update on the stolen trailer, we just found out today that they had no leads on the case and it was technically a closed case.

Rich, I can only hope when you get the Big Sky that you have a thousand % better quality and SERVICE than we have on our 2010!
I've always been a strong proponent for Montana, but that sure has shrunk with this unit!
Good luck!

We have advised the proper folks at Keystone Montana that we have purchased the top of the line highest $$$$ product they make and we expect the highest quality. We will have no problem at all having them hook it up and take it back to Goshen IF the PDI and quality does not meet our expectations. We hear what you are saying and like you we are not rookies here and will not stand for shoddy workmanship or poor service..Montana service has always been outstanding for us and we expect it to remain that way.We are apprehensive Steve and we looked at other comparable units but saw none that we thought might be better.Does not say much for the RV industry.

Someone asked us why we are not excited about a new RV.That would be because we have a old one.

We have had ours now about 5 months. Of course not a Big Sky, but do really love our new retirement home, The 2980 was our camper, this is our home! I had a bit of trepidation at first, but so far so good. But, then we do not expect perfection! (that is an impossibility!). :~)
