3440RL vs 342RL High Country

Can anyone comment on these two rigs. I will be full timing in a couple of years and if I go with the High Country I can stay in a 3/4ton truck. If I go with the 3440 I will need a bigger truck. Really just looking for full timer comments. Thanks

Stevesmith, what kind of 3/4 ton? I had a 2010 f-250 SD 6.4. CC/SB 20" wheel 4x4. towed a 2011 343 rl high country. loaded for camping I was 800 lbs over my GVWR, But under my RAWR by 460 lbs.

The 2014 343rl high country has a dry hitch weigh of 2225 lbs per Montana sight. My 2011 323rl is listed at 1870 lbs dry. (yea right in what world)

Steve, Take the GVWR of the trailer x .25%. Figure that for your "actual" pin weight. Buy a truck that will carry that weight on the rear axle and not exceed the trucks GVWR or GAWR. We fulltimed for 10 years if that counts for anything. Now 8 months in the Montana yearly.

I know several folks that are towing heavy with 3/4 trucks. Beyond my risk level.

Jim

Get rig you feel most comfortable in and then the truck you need. Living full time in your rig is a lot more fun if you have what you want and don't spend time wishing you had a different rig. Full timing will cause you to accumulate much more weight than weekend camping. You'll notice I have a 2500, but it's rated for more weight than we pull. If we buy a new rig we for sure will need a bigger truck because the new rigs are heavier than ours.
