3750FL Where is the light switch(es)?

Sigh. Thought I had this thing all figured out...

Seven months ago we moved into our Monty and are full-timing. Doing well, and am very grateful for this forum as it has answered quite a few questions along the way.

BUT, a few days ago we had two lights come on and have no idea how or why. Where in the world is the light switch(es) for the 1) orange light under front door steps and 2) light over hitch.

Any help appreciated! It's always something, right!!!

I don't know about the orange light under the steps, but the light over the hitch is probably the same switch that controls your door side scare light, the big floodlight on the front corner of your camper. Maybe the same switch controls both?

Thanks for quick reply sambam.
You just brought to surface another issue I had abandoned; I have not identified the DS flood light. ??? I don't see one near front. Looks like I'll be out tomorrow during daylight to look again since you verified that there's a flood somewhere!

FYI, the flood switch is off so it's not the one working the light over the hitch.

A true test of my patience!

I have 3625re and my orange step light comes on with the scare light, does not make a lot of sense as my other Cougar came on with the Porch light. The other light we have never found yet either. Just gave up. Plan on contacting Keystone when I have time. CW did not know or could they get it working.
If you figure it out please post. thanks Joe

My hitch light comes on with the Flood light. The little amber light under the steps also came on with the opposite flood light, BUT I rewired it to come on with the Porch light. So now when I turn on the porch light the little amber light under the steps comes on to light up the steps.

Check your fob for a button to turn the scare lights on/off

Do you have the Big Sky model? If so these lights are also controlled by the light on the remote. If you do have the remote, if the lights are turned on accidently with the remote, the only way to turn them off is with the remote. It would also help if we knew what year your rig was, the 2010 and 2011 models did have remotes, the new models only if Big Sky.

My 3750 has a light on the top right corner of the remote. It turns the front curbside scare light, step light and hitch light on. If that tuns it on, the only wat to turn it off is with the remote. Mine has lit switches to indicate they are on

Yes it's the remote! Press the on and switch above it. The light will go on and off with first press. Then stay on with second press. Third time off again. It's to great you at night, and tell you remote is on! If its on press on again then switch above it. The remote turns itself off after a time. My DS floodlight is in panel in cabinet with other controls. The remote in my 3750 supersedes the switch in trailer.

It looks as if the selling dealer forgot to give it to you. I think all 3750's come with a remote.

2011 Montana 3750FL

Love the idea of rewiring, but we're just not that handy.
(Holding our own and learning as we go!)

We've never used the remote. Changed the battery, but it's not working. Played with it for about 5 mins.

So far I know I have a bulb to change in the security light (door side) and I disconnected the light over the hitch until I can figure this mess out.

Problem isn't solved, but y'all have answered a lot of questions. Thanks.

I am no expert but this is what I have found....iF YOU TURN ON THE SECURITY LIGHT WITH THE REMOTE YOU HAVE TO TURN IT OFF WITH THE REMOTE.
IF YIU USE THE INTERIOR SWITCH THE SAME APPLIES. APPEARS TO BE TWO SEPERATE SYSTEMS....THE YELLOW STEP LIGHT AND THE PIN LIGHT ARE WITH THE RIDERS SIDE LIGHT. THE DOS IIS ON THE BACK SIDE OF YOUR RIG.
I HAD UNIT TO DEALER TWICE UNTIL WE REALIZED THIS WAS THE SYSTEM.

Now I am curious if I should have received a remote with my 2013 3750FL. It is loaded with all the packages, maybe I should have a remote and don't know it!

After looking at the Keystone site showing Montana features, options, etc., it looks as if the remote may be a Big Sky feature only now.

danlisaflores; I am not sure how your lights are wired but on most units the door side flood, hitch and under step light all come on together. Since you indicated the bulb had to be replaced on the DS flood yours may very well be the same.

You indicated you have a remote and have changed the battery in it. When you push any of the buttons all the keypads should light up for a brief time, if they are not lighting up then maybe the battery is not in correctly or the remote is no good. Confirm the remote is working.

Since you do have the remote then you do have a remote receiver located in the front compartment, it should look similar to this:

The flood light, hitch and step light can be turned on/off with the remote, independent of the receiver being turned on, in other words you do not have to turn the receiver on with the remote to operate the lights. To operate the awning and hydraulics from my remote, I must push the "LCI" button and then the "ON" button to turn on the receiver. The red LED then goes on at the receiver and you hear an audible click. Instructions are on the back of my remote.

You should have a single wire coming from the receiver at the "light" terminal. Remove that wire and see if the lights go out, make sure the switch is off at the main inside panel, this switch should be lighted when on, and should be lit even when off if the lights have been turned on by the remote.

If the lights in question go off by removing this wire then it is the remote receiver that has turned them on.

If the receiver has the Program procedure written on it and you have confirmed the operation of the remote then I would run through the program procedure, it is not a difficult task. If this does not help then try this.

Disconnect the Positive wire to the receiver terminal identified by "Power", that is the power to the receiver, and should be located at the top right hand corner of the receiver. Leave it disconnected for a couple of minutes. This might reset the receiver and solve the problem. Replace the wires and see what happens.
