Frig. Drain
On a 09 3400RL does the drain hose go on the outside of the vent cover? I pull the the cover and no drain for the hose, Whoops.

If you have a Dometic, then you should have a drain hose that sticks out of the side panels. If you have a Norcold, the hose will end and lay in a tray inside the compartment.

The only caveat about putting the Dometic hose outside is that the UV rays will deteriorate the hose. On our previous trailer, we attached a gas line rubber hose to the original hose with a barbed fitting inside the compartment.

We experienced an unusual problem last year with our Norcold refer when parked along the Texas coast when the humidity was very high. I discovered a wet spot below the refer cabinet. I traced it to the tray on the back of the refer where the hose dumps in it. It was full and overflowing and dumping water slowly. It appeared my condensation and moisture collection from the inside of the refer was greater than the evaporation process that the tray provides. Simple solution was to route the hose through the outside panel.

I went to the hardware store and picked up some clear hose, a couple of barbed fittings and a pvc P trap.. that way it keeps summer heat from going up into the fridge.. put a small screen on the end to keep the bugs out.. works real good..

Has anyone replaced the hose with the original kind? It looks like it goes quite a ways up beyond the outside cover. the lower part of mine is gone (who knows where). Guess it deteriorated to the point where it broke off.

Follow the various advice posted above and replace it with something durable that is UV resistant. I can not see any reason to replace the original drain hose with the same thing when the life very short due to the sun.

Our lower portion of the drain hose broke off and the remaining hose length was draining water onto the platform at the bottom on the frig cabinet. I did a temporary add on, but the oem hose cracked very easily. Obviously a very poor choice of materials. I think I remember an earlier post where someone mentioned that it was very hard to get to the point that the hose is connected to. So far I have not tried to completely replace it.

You can buy good strong hose at Tractor Supply. Ours also has a drip plug on the end of the hose that gets plugged up
