Basement floor

Would anyone know how thick the basement storage floor is. I bought a mor/ryde cord reel and want to mount it but don't want to use screws that are to long and punch a hole in a waste tank or something special like that. The screws that come with are 5/8 in. long. Thanks in advance, Brent. By the way, it is a model 3910

Pretty sure it's something like 1/2" composite plus the covering. When I fastened down my inverter I drilled a small hole to get an idea. I had to rework the underbelly cover last year though and there wasn't a tank there on ours. Don't know about your model.

Keystone brags that the underflooring is 5/8 floordecking. I just moved my cargo slide from my old unit to the new one in cargo area, and had to drill holes for anchor bolts, and 5/8 depth seemed about right. Certainly at least 1/2. I also was not sure where tanks were, so carefully drilled each hole stopping as soon as I broke the bottom surface of the flooring. Ran a coat hanger down the hole to insure nothing there. Ran eight holes, and never hit anything. Expected to hit a frame member but was lucky. I would think you would be OK as long as careful. 5/8 screws would not be flush to the floor anyway because of the frame of the reel.

Brent, look at hanging it overhead on the aluminum studs. Just a thought.

Hi

We had to replace our basement floor because of rot.

The wood was 5/8 plywood and under that are aluminum cross members that are 2X2 inch theses may be 2X3 laid sideways.

At any rate you shouldn’t have any problem using 5/8 screws. If you hit one of the aluminum cross member it would probably strip the screw in the wood and all you would have to do is move it a few inches to get a good tight clamp.
