Valve stem extender for spare
I like to keep check the tire pressure on our spare regularly.
A flat spare is no spare 
Has anyone tried a valve stem extender for the spare to save crawling under the trailer?
Similar to these they come 40" long but if they leak they are of no value.

Just bang it with a hammer occasionally to check to see if it is low, (after insuring it is up to pressure)
An extender will just give it 2 more places to leak air.

I just simply carry a compressor, if I need the spare and it is under-inflated, I simply air it up when needed. Have only had the opportunity to use the spare once in the last eight years, so I feel like I have saved myself multiple trips under the rig. Just my thoughts.

I'm like Bingo. I always have a compressor and at least one generator to power it when towing my trailer. So other than using the creepy crawlie at home to check the air on occassion I don't worry about not enough air in the spare.
I do try to keep 80 psi in all tires including the spare and don't always check the spare. I find it needs little inflating when I do check it. The other tires supporting the rig do need more air more often but that makes sense to me. In any case, since I check so frequently, the amount of air needed is not that much, but the rig sits at my house so I'm constantly reminded.
Under these circumstances I wouldn't find a need to use an extender, but this may change as I age or injure myself and become less physically capable.

Yes, I do the air compressor route. But I have used my spare a lot more than 1 time in 8 years. I am getting ready to buy a new spare because the original spare is over 8 years old! Out with the old and in with the new! And like others, when I use it, I want it to work.

Thanks for the input,I think I'll add the compressor and hammer to the list of things to keep in the trailer.
With us already having the on board generator makes sense to have the compressor.
See you guys just saved me spending money

Compressor and hammer? Really, a Hammer? Are you referring to one of those tire thumping things that truckers use? I've always thought those were weapons (at least in the movies). I don't think they would be all that reliable of ensuring you have the proper psi. Do I need to learn something new again?

I know what Ozz is saying about a hammer, you can do a quick check with a hammer but only to tell you the tire is quite low on air.
Its only for a quick check.

Yea, Art! Try it sometime, the OTR truckers use if quite succesfully. Obviously there are better ways, but with the spare under there where it is, a good thump can be a good thing. I see the wood bats in the truck stops all the time.

Ozz,
You'd be suprized how easy it is to hear the difference in a full tire and one a little low on pressure. Of course they usually have one close by to compare.

Just like a golf club, a tire thumper in my hands is a weapon (I have seen them in many truck stops). With my luck I'd accidently smack the crap out of an extender and THEN I'd have a big problem.

I put one of these on my truck spare and it lost all the air. Don't waste your money on these.

I used two of these hoses for years and never had a problem. I use a Pressure Pro now.
