Stinky Slinky Storage

(say that 3 times real fast) I'm considering welding a hanger to the frame of my Monty to hold a piece of PVC to store my sewer hose in. And yes I know you're not supposed to weld on the frame. Has anybody done this or something similar?

Ken I'm sure there will be others along but I've seen many of the Montes in our travels with just what you're talking about. Most do not weld on the frame but use some of the plumbers banding with the holes in it and use either self-tapping screws or bolts to hold the PVC up. I think if you do a search you'll find some photos of what many have done. I hope to do the same myself before our next trip out but we'll see if I find the time to do it!

I fabricated a bracket that used the existing holes that was used to hold the spare tire winch. Removed that and put the spare on the back bumper. Has been working well for years. BUT, being a welder for over forty years, I would not hesitate to weld a bracket on the frame if the need arose.

I have a plastic fence corner post under there (allows larger connections to fit in easily). I just attached it to a cross member with really large industrial zip ties.

We fastened our sewer storage tube by drilling a hole through the plastic tube and a matching hole in the frame- By drilling near the end of the tube, we were able to reach the holes and attach the tube using self tapping metal screws- Also put a large washer on the self tappers to spread the tension over a larger area- Good luck in whichever way you proceed- Don

I used 4" pvc pipe with u bolts. If you look up The Dale Company, you will find any kind of u bolt you could possibly want.

I took two 8' pieces of 4" PVC pipe and screwed them to the frame right behind the front landing gear. I used the same size self-tapping bolts that hold the underbelly cover in place, placing fender washers under the heads of the bolts. The ends of the pipe are enclosed with a female collar and male plug end on both ends. Oh yes, that means that the 4" pipe is slightly less than 8' because the finished installation was 8'. Has held tight for 10 years even though having to be removed and reinstalled several times for holding tank repairs.

Not Allowed!! The ever-inquisitive nature of the MOC needs to know the details. If pics cannot be provided at least the installation specifics!! The wealth of information that comprises the MOC archives always needs new input!

I'm a bit picky about what my rig looks like and I do have access to a metal roll. I made these straps out of aluminum and the blocks to go with it. The mounting bolt that goes into the frame is offset to allow for the thru bolt to hold the strap on.

I used U-shaped bolts just aft of the landing gear, the metal is 'drillable' there. I just bent an allthread into a U-shape for mine. I prefer something with a nut and lock-washer on it.
(Not as nice as the above neatnick) Good job Dieselguy!
