Air conditioning

help. i have a 2010 3150...lots of problems. but now the 2 air conditioners don't seem to cool off very well even though the dealer states that they are ok.

i had a friend come into my 5th wheel and he said his cedar creek gets soooooo cold that if could freeze you out.

my trailer seems to be somewhat cool only. ran the living room all night and it was 2 degrees warmer than outside.

in my last 5th wheel the air was very cold.

any suggestions??? warranty runs out this falllll.

I think you find another dealer. We have a friend with a high end Jayco with 2 A/Cs and when it's cooling you can hang meat inside even when temps are in the 90s. I don't have 2 A/Cs so I can't ever get that cool in high temps.

It does not sound like they are working that hard on your problem. They probably don't have the right equipment. They turned on the unit, felt the temp with their hand, then gave up. The ability to cool a rig starts with the insulation and a 2010 3150 has pretty good insulation, so I think the A/Cs are either under powered or not working correctly. A temperature flow and temp measuring device is required to check this. My A/C guy had one. It measures the amount of flow and at what temperature the vents are running to help determine if the units are working and which areas need attention. There are also other tools that can be used and your problem sounds obvious. Any air conditioner will get cold if it's working and measured with this device. Your hand is NOT a good tool for this.

Are you sure you are using the correct thermostat setting and temperature control? Others have posted problems in the past and found they were not setting their unit correctly. When you go to the dealer and have them check, ask them to show you that your unit can be configured to run cold. Even if it's set real low, it the temperature better get real low. Then they'll either find you were doing something wrong or there is something wrong. I am a firm believer that when I know I have a problem and I know I am doing it right, then THEY are not finding my problem or not trying hard enough. I won't comment on how many times I've had to drag a service manager or technician to show them a problem, followed by their comment, "Oh that, I didn't do that"... even though I'd been telling them what to do repeatedly. They can't fix what they can't see and they have trouble seeing sometimes.

Remember to close all vents and windows when using the A/C. The A/C does not do well sucking in outside air.

I'm thinking you might be drawing return air from the attic. I would drop the filter, and check to see that the return plenum is sealed. I found wire ran through the tape on ours with a gaping hole. When the dealer installed our front non-ducted unit, the tech didn't even bother to seal the attic area. IIRC, you should see 15-20* drop across the evaporator. You bring in hot air thru the return, you won't ever cool the rig. JMHO
