Refrigerator and Water Heater

In another thread I have written about my front landing gear but now I have other problems that are probably related: site has a large fore/ aft slope and since the front jack is broken I am forced to remain hitched. Despite putting blocks under all 4 wheels the slope is still bad. The fridge pilot will not light (propane checked good) and shows “oP LI”. Is that the code a leveling problem? I don’t think it is related but the water heater does not light all the time. Any suggestions on that? As always, thanks p, in advance, for the help.

If the rig is too off level you may have problems with the appliance lighting, if it uses a pilot, because the flame may be off of the thermocouple that allows gas to flow when it knows the pilot is lit. The newer refrigerators may well have a shut off if the angle is too steep since both frig manufacturers are paying settlements to those of us who owned old ones due to the tendency for them to set themselves on fire if they had been off level too much or too long.

The "L1 Op" (and other variations of spelling) supposedly indicates an over temperature problem, AFAIK, it is unrelated to the levelness of the RV (although I would not run the refer if it is more than 3 degrees off level). It's purpose is to detect an ammonia leak before the refer catches fire. But it frequently is set off by water entering the outside of the refer due to washing or heavy rain.

There is a reset procedure which may work. In the back of the refer (outside) you can see a black box which will have a blinking red LED. Using a strong magnet, hold it to the box near the light and it should turn the light off. Google "L1OP" for much more information on the cause and how to correct it.

The cause of intermittent failure to light is hard to guess. Not being level is unlikely as the burner assembly shouldn't care. Maybe the igniter is not close enough to the propane nozzle, junk (mud dauber nest?) or such in the tube, the air mixture vent is off or ???

I assume the electrical side works?

Carl you are a genius! The magnet thing worked and I am no longer headed for divorce court ( at least not for this). Now I just have to figure out the water heater problem.

When you see the blue type listen and certainly disregard any thing I’ve said.
