3160RL first trip

Finally got a chance to take out the 3160RL on its maiden voyage. Had to make a few trips to a local Home Depot to tweak a few things but nothing major. Bottom track for the shower door was leaking where the veritable and horizontal track meet before there was no silicon at this seam so I sealed it. I don't like the way the lower track for the shower door constantly holds water. When I get home, I will be filing the drain slots in the track lower to allow the water to drain out of the track.
Fridge door wouldn't stay latched so I took the upper latch apart and found that norcold over tightened the screws so they were countersunk into the plastic latch. I got them out and lowered the latch and added stainless steel washers. It now latches but I will be contacting norcold for a new latch.
Fireplace remote sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
One thing to mention, the trailer constantly seems a lot darker inside than my previous campers. It also feels a little tighter inside than I thought before I bought it. This is my first side aisle and I'm still not sure if I would get another one.
All in all, I'm currently satisfied with the trailer.

Sounds like a good start. We don't have a side aisle, but kind of wish we did. When we stop overnight on a parking lot we have to put the bedroom slide out to get in the bed. As a result we've had to put reflective tape on the slide to try and keep a bad event from happening.

Sounds like al small problems and easy to fix. Not things you want to take to de dealer and wait for weeks to get it back. On the shower we use a shower curtain that keeps the class clean and no water in the floor tracks.

I'm going to use a thin file or a dremel to make the drains in the shower floor track closer to the bottom. Right now they are approx. 1/8" above the bottom which I don't understand why they didn't make them flush with the bottom. After all, they are there to drain the water out of the track and back into the tub.

I had the same problem with the lack of silocone sealing the lower track. Luckly I had opened the basement and found the leak before there was a big problem. I also dont like how the track holds water.

I saw the leak because the water was running out of the tub near the vanity. I noticed it immediately so nothing was damaged.

I hope you stay happy with your 3160 RL. We have had some issues with ours but we still like it. As for bedroom access my Montana and my old Vangard both had the same style of access. Having the slide out makes it much easier but not impossible. As for the available light in the unit our 3160 seems to have lots more lights available to use and it is quite bright when I turn them on. As for going into the unit with out any lights on during the daytime it could probably have used a window on the door side slide out. In order for them to do that it would have required a TV that went up and down into a cabinet. Then they could have a window behind it like other units that I have seen. I don't know if they could have done it with the fireplace. As for the shower track I will have to check into ours and see if we have the problem and I just have not seen it. I would have got the extra room in the 3610 because it seems less tight when in the kitchen but I did not want the unit any longer. My wife would have been happier with the 3610 but she does not tow it.

I would have preferred the 3610 but had to go with the smaller unit due to where I park it in my yard. I have a 40' pad with an extra 20 ft. In front of that then a retaining wall. I have to back this trailer 90 degrees to the right and straighten it out in less than 60'

I filed the drain holes on our shower also. The tracks held water and would not drain. Used a Dremel with a drill bit in it and not a file on the end of it. Tried to use a file but couldn't get it to move far enough into the holes to file them down so the water would drain.

I added the plexiglass mod on screen door to let in more light and give us more view out. Really enjoy it and can run AC and heat without losing the benefits.

Glad your maiden trip went pretty well and that you are handy! One thing I've learned from this site is that it pays to be able to fix things yourself! I learn something new to do every time I'm on here. Hope you continue to enjoy your new RV.
