Big freezin problem
I'm froze up. Sittin in Kerrville, Tx and cannot get hot water into the bathroom. Cold works and I know hot will freeze faster. I have hot and cold in the kitchen. Put a heater in the basement. Used two hairdryers to blow air under the floor where the waterlines run and still cannot get water running. Any ideas out there???????

Probably stating the obvious?? Run the furnace for a couple of hours, on HIGH.
Mother Nature sure is a tough cookie.
Good luck.

Had same problem before. Low point drains froze and pushed ice plug up to block lines. Hair dryer on the drains behind rear tire by the steps. Voila!!! Hope it works for you, too?! Let us know. BTW, I added foam pipe wrap next day to help.

I agree with Mrs Countryguy. I had the same thing happen in Texas yesterday. I opened all the cabinet doors and ran the heat higher for a few hours. It worked.

Well I tried the hair dryer on the low points. Only one had water and the other was bone dry. We got the heat turned up so high you could bake bread in here and the heater is still onin the basement. We juat called our next campgrounds and we can get in there a day early so hopefully it won't snow a foot and we can head north where it's warmer. Thanks guys.

Hair dryer takes a little while to melt the plug. Turn the hot water faucet on in the bathroom to let the water flow?! Keep trying.

We had the same problem here in Benson AZ this morning. Just run the furnace for awhile until it thaws out. Ours is ok now as we just got back from a day trip. Tonight I will leave the furnace on a bit instead of the electric heater.

The weather guys in San Antonio have reported temps in Kerrville around the low teens or maybe single digits with 20-30 mph north wind. The temp in San Antonio has not been above 30 since Tuesday! The ice plug maybe a little bigger than expected. Good Luck. Not your typical South Texas weather--average high is supposed to be 65!

In Tombstone AZ today the locales told us that it was the coldest there this morning since the 1800's.

18 to 25 degrees for two days here. Running off the pump. Water cut off below ground, but the open faucet is frozen. And I left Washington for warmer climes. Should have stayed in the northwest. Al said it is because of global warming.

Rich, I had an email from Steves saying it got down to 8 degrees where they are in Tombstone!
From our experience, you can run the electric heater but also have the furnace on. We run two electric heaters on low fan speed but with thermostats on pretty high and set the furnace at 60. Last night was 21 and no freezing. When it gets into the mid-teens or below we can put one of the heater fans on high and still the furnace runs enough.
