Landing gear fluid
What kind of fluid should I use to top off landing gear reservoir? I've heard all sorts of recommendations including ATF, etc. Thanks.

Mark and Connie, may want to double check with Lippert Components but, I think they are still recommending or, saying to use the ATF. This spring, when we took delivery of our unit and brought it home to get her ready for it's maiden voyage to Florida, I did top off the tank with Walmart ATF Dexron/Mercon fluid. Everything was closed and retracted when I topped it off. Haven't had any issues.......yet!

Hi
It all starts out as 10W petroleum oil. Then an additive is introduced to reduce the foaming caused by high pressure pumps.
After that the only difference is the dye to make the color with the exception of the Ford fluid used in some of the older Fords that has an additive specific to their transmissions.
They will all work well in the Lippert hydraulic system or you bottle jack etc.

Phil pretty much summed it up with little wiggle room for further question. Except for Ford type F tranny fluid (not easily found as time rolls by)use ATF fluid. Color is irrevelant. If you have the Level Up system and it pops ... add the CAT fluid or recommended motorcycle fork oil to reduce "stiction".

Does anyone know or had just one of the hydraulic level lifts leak and then stop?

Yes, we have had a couple of them leak, and the longest one to leak, the left-rear, has finally stopped leaking. I haven't a clue why it stopped, just glad it did.
