Ahhh BBQ mess....somehow its my job to clean it

So on our vacay my hubby BBQued a fantastic tri tip for several hours on our little portable grill...downside is he used tons of sauce repetitively and literally the entire inside is coated. I have scrubbed and scrubbed LOL even thought about taking it to a high pressure car wash to see if it will help any. Any tips to help with this?

Is it something you can soak? If so you might consider a big bucket with hot soapy water and let it soak for awhile. We use the outside shower for water source and then you don't have the mess inside. If it is the bottom and it is a gas barbecue... maybe it will eventually burn off?!! Another thing to try is oven cleaner if the surface will take that... Good luck.

A healthier and safer alternative is to bag the grill and pour some ammonia in the bottom of the bag. Seal it with a twist tie and let it set outside in the sun for the day and the fumes will loosen the drippings. This works well for oven grates and burner bibs as well.

FYI- :-) to prevent this problem in the future, line the bottom of your grill with foil.
