Verizon likely to add overage charge to BBA plan
There's a good chance that Verizon broadbandaccess plans starting sometime in early March will have an overage charge attached to them for every MB beyond 5 GB in a billing month.
If you have been thinking about getting verizon service, it might be best to do it quickly.

Thanks, Alex. We've not come close to 5GB so far but if one watches streaming video a lot, it could happen. I think the most we've done in a month is about 3GB and that's with two of us online a lot.

steve, i've always contended that since most RVers will find themselves in 1xRTT coverage often, it would be hard to threaten the 5gb limit.
but if there are folks considering verizon service, it may be in their best interest to sgin up before any overage charges are added to plans in march.

Thanks, Alex. I just wanted to comment so those who are thinking of getting the service don't assume they'll often have the surcharges and decide not to get it.
I just checked my VZAccess Manager for our last full month billing cycle (31 days from 1/18 to 2/18). We used a tad under 3 GB, for the two of us. You're right, Alex, that those who are thinking of getting the service might want to do so before the surcharge is even an issue but for those who get it later they'll not likely exceed the limit unless they're doing a lot of streaming video or similar bandwith hog activity.

Vicki watched a few online tv show episodes that she had missed for one reason or another. Not many but a few. That added a bunch to it.

i'm sure you meant 1,065 MB... cuz... if we take it literally... and it WAS 1,065 Gb...
then i think we have found the source of Verizon's problems, eh?

If history repeats itself, Verizon WILL add a surcharge- We had used their Mobile Office as a freebie until they eliminated that program- Anything for a buck- Life goes on- Don

Well, now I don't know where I got the 3GB number from. I can't find it again. For our billing period ending 2/3/08, it says we used 436 MB. But part of that month we were on an rv park's wifi. We have months with heavier usage and months with little or no usage.
