50 amp breaker

I have a 2002 Montana 5th wheel. 50 amp service. Do any of you have problems plugging in electric heaters and causing main breaker to kick off?

If you have electric heaters running and try running all the other stuff in your 5er you will kick the 50 amp breaker if you over load it!

Generally it is not a problem. But if you tried to operate too many high current devices that were on one leg of the 50 amp service, it could exceed that 50 amps and trip the breaker. An example might be that the water heater, fireplace, microwave, and outlets in which a hair dryer, a curling iron, and an electric space heater were all wired to the same hot leg of the 50 amp service then it could trip. 50 amp service has two hot legs, but if either one is overloaded it will trip both legs.

A tripping breaker can also be due to that breaker going bad.

I have wondered if the breaker could be going bad. I will have that checked before spending the money to order a new one. Thanks for the responses.

A new breaker should be no more than $10-$15 at Home Depot, Lowe’s, or a hardware store. Take the old one with you to make sure you get the correct type. Inexpensive and easy to replace. Just make sure your power is disconnected.
