Revised drain boom

I wanted to be able to keep at least 15' of sewer hose in the boom and rotate it 180 degrees. Here is how I did it on my 2009 3400 Monty.
1st, added shut off valve. I like the safety of this.

2nd, extended boom arm. (Thanks to others who shared the idea)

Now rotated 180 degrees.

Just a question for those who have gone with the additional shutoff valve. After you leave the dump station ... do you still seemingly play out a scene in Chevy Chase's "Christmas Vacation" and dribble fluid for miles down the road after leaving the campground ... or does the addition valve let you dribble just a few hundred feet past the dump station? Granted hopefully it is just water, but people pointing don't know that.

I just had the additional valve installed on ours too. It's nice to not have to worry about the hose being half full of fluid ( I keep it capped) any more when hooking it up at the next camp site. I also installed the longer tube when I first bought the Montana.

Since adding the value I have had no drip.

I too got tired of leaky valves or me not getting one of them shut completely and when I pop the cap off to hook up the hose I get that cup full of foul water. I added one of the valves with the clear 45 deg elbow and also has a tank flush attached. No more stinky dribbles....

After draining our tanks as good as I thought they could be drained, I still received a douse of liquid from the cap when it was removed. For some reason there is always liquid hiding somewhere in the lines for the person who removes the cap at the next stop. After installing a shut off valve at the end of our line I haven’t had any more surprises. Not only does it keep me from getting the unwanted splash it adds a little extra room for more grey water storage.

Anyone know where to get a section of the pipe? I'd like to extend mine to hold a few more feet of hose. Mine measures 4 1/2" OD. and 4 3/8" ID. Checked the local Fleet Farm supply and Menards. They say they have never seen anything that size before.
Thanks

Thanks so much for sharing Mel! My husband is ecstatic that someone figured this problem out for him. He just informed me it will be the first mod we do when we get home from Yellowstone. He had a bit of blue smoke coming out his ears when he tried to put our 15' hose in a pipe that we were told by the dealership held 20'! Since you made this modification you probably knew that.

Camping World sells the complete pipe assemblies. I installed a 4'pipe to replace the original, and use it for storage of the 15' of hose. I don't use it to swing out. Also put on the twist on shut off valve and removed the "elbow" hose. No more leaks and drips!

I'm not sure how so many people have liquid in their hoses when they open the cap. My cap does not have a gasket on it so any residual water drains right out. It's dry when I open it the next time.

I have the Rhino hose with the clear elbow and cap. I always get some residual waste water in the hose. I'm going to look at installing another valve. For now I just want to extend the boom so I can store a longer hose. I had to cut my Rhino in half to get it to fit inside the stock holder. Last Monday I was going to dump the tanks and my hose just barely made it to the dump. I hated having to cut my hose.

My DH thinks it is absolutely stupid that an industry standard hose (i.e. Rhino 15') does NOT fit without modification! When you spend this kind of money on a rig you expect that they would have figured that out. So I guess one of our first modifications will be extending the boom, at least for storage, when we get home. If Keystone is watching this forum they should make note of the moidifications made so they can copy them...and of course pay a royalty to Mel for his great resolution to a major problem.

I just purchased a 2013 3150RL and it came with a 36in pipe that holds the sewer hose with a cap and handle on the end. Not being familiar with previous models this seems to be what Mel has devised. Its also supported by a clamp about halfway down- to the frame.

My boom is only 24" long. Got a new one coming from CW 46" long and it's white so it should look better also.

Installed the new boom today. Took about 30 minutes and my full length of Rhino hose now fits inside. Thanks for all the help.
