BRIDGE OUT Major Detour - Update 9-19-13

The WM received these two maps showing alternate routes to the fairgrounds from the School intersection Route 33 and CR 34 light.

NOTE: 9/19 I took this route today. The city map shows using Blackport Road (in purple) - That route has a sign "RV's to Fairgrounds Monroe detour" so we should use that route from ST RD 4 to CR 34.

Thanks John! Will we get extra points from the German and Japanese judges for degree of difficulty once we arrive?

Detour signs are gonna be important, eh?? Good barricades too, placed BEFORE the last opportunity to turn around.

Whew, sure is a biggie.

So, we can't trust GPS to get there?

Same with the Garmin I have (but don't use any more); try entering the Lat/Lon coordinates (41deg 34' 54.29"N x 85deg 48' 22.95"W) or 1819 East Monroe Street, Goshen, IN - some GPS' (like some Garmins) don't recognize 17746 County Road 34.

The new Rands have the Fairgrounds in their database...

Our garmin 465T does recognize the above address and always has. Which makes no difference as it won't get us there anyhow.

If you are coming from the eastern Michigan it is simple. Get to I-69 and head south to U.S. 20, then
west to Indiana 13 - south to CR 34 and west to fairgrounds. Safe travels.

Bill and I are at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds. There are green road signs in all directions showing you how to travel the detour to get to the fairgrounds. Even if you forget John's directions you should have no problems.

That's true. If you try to get there the normal way they will shuttle you on a detour just over the RR tracks and just before you get to the bridge that's out. That detour will take you up to the next highway and over to the road that brings you back just about opposite gate #1. You will be able to find your way no matter what.

Ok.......So now I'm confused. You're now saying the detour signs are telling us to take the "NON PREFERRED ROUTE" as indicated on the map?

Correct. As with other TRUCK signs (sometimes RVs are exempt). They have RVs to Fairground signs on the pink route and it is the easiest.

That was why I posted the correction. Just trying to help and allow people to be prepared.
