No thanks Lippert

In a previous post, during the rally, I thanked Lippert for diagnosing my hydraulic leak. The Monday before we left they came out to replace the alleged leaking fitting. When we arrived home and dropped Monte in the driveway, I noticed a small spot in the drive.

After opening up the front storage I saw more fluid on the battery case as well as an excessive amount at the bottom of the storage area. Checked all the fittings and hoses again w/o any luck. My assumption, hopefully, is that when the fitting was replaced they just didn't bother cleaning up their mess, so I did. They didn't even route the hose back to the original position but just left it hanging in front of the reservoir and over the battery case which means I have to move the hose every time I access the battery.

Monte is put away for the winter so I won't worry about the leak until spring. By than the excess fluid should drip out into the pan I put under Monte and than I can route the hose to its' original position.

Sloppy work ethic seems to be getting more and more common

Since we had a lot of work done by Lippert I had the same observation. Two techs were great, the other one was not. I let them know, and you should also. If I was running the shop, I'd want to know.

Two techs came out to diagnose the problem at the request of Keystone. The one that found the cracked fitting did not come out for the repair, the other guy did with the installer for the level up system. Today I winterized Monte and one of the last things I did was pull the battery. I found atf fluid in the bottom of the battery case which was dripping out onto the drive. I wiped down the case as well as some additional fluid around the case. I'm still not sure if it is a result of their sloppiness or another leak. At any rate I will send Jerod an email. I guess I got what I paid for. Free service sometimes is not worth it.

Check the leak regularly thru the winter. My Level-Up was leaking from the get-go (turned out to be loose fitting). The first time I check the trailer after sitting for 6 weeks the front end was almost on the ground. After I re-leveled it, the front end was on the ground after 4 weeks and almost all the fluid was on the ground.

As for Lippert they left me waiting for those 4 weeks because they were going to send somebody to me. Finally they agreed for me to take it to a shop of my choosing and they would pick up the tab.

I emailed Jarod and here is his response. Hopefully more to follow.

"I apologize for the inconvenience and have forwarded this message to the head of customer service."

Just received from Lippert Customer Service

"Richard,

I am very sorry for the troubles you are continuing to have.

I would like to make notes in our system regarding the issues you are having.

Can you please provide me with the last 8 of your Vin?

Once you are ready to have the coach worked on again, please contact us. We want to make sure you are fixed once and for all.

I would like for you to bring the coach to our shop but understand that may not be possible for you so we would like for the dealer you have work on your coach to call us to make sure the issue gets resolved."

Like I've been preaching ... for each good tech, you'll encounter about 25 bad ones. It's not just in the RV industry. If it's the same guy fixing your leak next spring, I hope he has sucessfully practiced on several other units before he tackles yours again.

Someone left their glasses at the Rally the day Lippert presented and they weren't reading glasses. No one from the Rally claimed them and I emailed Lippert and got no response so I left them at the fairgrounds. Maybe he couldn't see what he was doing?

When we finally take our rig to Lippert, I think Louise will go shopping and I'll hang out with the Lippert techs.
