Gold Beach OR - work camping update

We have changed our plans to stay the summer here in Gold Beach Oregon at Turtle Rock Resort - got a taste of the stress level that summer will bring this last weekend.
This park has 17 cottages that they rent and we thought that this would not be to difficult but it is like working at a hotel/motel and that is not what we wanted when we started work camping.
We will be heading down the coast to Crescent City to work on a family members house the first of May and take it easy for a while before we decide what we want to do.

We do know we will not work where they have cottages rentals ever again.

Have you looked into Oregon State park hosting? They do have some yurts but nothing like the cottage situation you have now. Some of the county parks in Oregon also have hosts, as well as US Forest Service and BLM. Lots of opportunities out there. Hope you find what suits you best.

We have friends that full time and they did the campground work thing for awhile. Now they work at rental storage units. They took classes to do this. They work as much as they want. Some places are short time and some longer. If anyone is interested I can get details from them.

Rocky 2--- Have you checked Winchester Bay in Oregon. It's beautiful between the harbor and bay. My husband and I just returned home from there about two weeks ago.

We are looking for other avenues but still watching the work camper hotline.

Will only do RV Parks from now on - NO cottages or cabins.

Yes Oregon is beautiful but we are ready to visit other areas.

We are at Adventureland Park in Altoona, IA (suburb of Des Moines) it is an amusement park. Don does rides. I work at WalMart (so I get health insurance, and have "play money" for the winter.) We stay at The Adventureland Campground. If you're going to be on I-80 passing through PM us and we'll give you our phone numbers. Also, our kids and grandchildren are here and it was home for many years, kind of the best of both worlds.

Dustytuu - I think we are going to check this type of work out when we fulfill our promises to family of help this year.

Don & Judy - Thank you - if we make it to Iowa we will look you up.

We are down to two weeks and counting the days till we leave this place.
I would not recommend this place to any work campers as long as the current manager is here and it doesn't look like he is going anywhere (ever).
