Decals

The decals on the outside of my 5ver are starting to roll up on the edges and some are worse than others. Anybody have or had this problem if so what can be done to A: repair the curling decals and B: can anything be done to prevent further damage. We have spent the last 4 summers on the Texas coast with the unit and I am wondering if this is heat or salt related. Hate to loose any decals.

My decals on my 2005 3670 are shrinking, curling, and getting rough on the edges. There have been complaints about this problem. My dealer would not replace after the warranty period. I did not have this problem with my first Montana. The decal on the front is looking real bad.
Good luck.

This seems to be an industry wide problem. Our 04 started last winter and here in the park there are a couple other SOBs with the same situation. It seems as they become about 3 years old they start to peel. Not sure if anything can be done. But than again I am solving my decal problem by trading it in come January.

Call your friendly dealer, he/she will be happy to order them from Keystone. You cannot order them yourself, must be through the dealer.

Don't forget you have to have the VIN to order anything for your rigs! It took me three trys to get the correct ones for the side of my pickup.

I have an 05 2980RL that has peeling and crumbling (around the edges) decals. At the advice of my dealer's parts manager, I contacted Keystone Customer Support at teammontana@keystonerv.com. After sending several photos taken at the needed angles for the best telling view, Keystone is sending replacement decals for my fiver. Installation comes out of my own pocket, but I feel that is only fair being I'm out of warranty. I was pleased with the service I got from Keystone.

I do not feel that this problem is warranted on a unit less than 2 years old. A one year warranty is a joke and Keystone should feel their product is built well enough to give you a warranty with backbone. Like I said in previous posts, this is my second Montana and I can see a difference in this one, and it is not only the price!

Just wondering if those with decal problems are all using high pressure washing? I'm looking for a cause so I can avoid the problem. Or is it unrelated to high pressure washing?

In the three years we had our Monty only once did we use hi pressure but not any where near the graphics.

Again this is not just a Montana or Keystone problem but an RV industry problem. As I look at more and more rigs of different manufacturers I am seeing the same thing occuring.

I have never used a high pressure washer on my RV's. I have always hand waxed my units at least twice a year. This unit had a wrinkle on one section under the bedroom window. I had that section replaced the first six months. Now every decal has shrank approx. 1 inch, and I have wrinkles all over and the decal on the front is feathered all over.
Again, my first Montana did not have any of these problems and I had that unit for 5 years.

Montana will not replace the decals on warintee for my 04, so I'll be using the hair drier to remove the realy bad ones and if I have a all white Monty in the near future so be it. I guess if I hit the winning ticket I get my own design painted on.

Ours is a 2000 model and we don't have a decal problem. I'm of the opinion that the company that makes the decals (for several RV Companies, by the way) has changed something in the decal makeup, possibly the adhesive used.

Well All I can tell you is we had the problem got new decals from Keystone took old off and new on at my expense, and now the new is doing the same thing less than year later. i would definitely say that the company that made them has a problem. I will be taking them off and leaving them off.

I see where it was mentioned that "will use the hair dryer to remove old decals" what is the procedure for doing this properly without damaging the Monte finish?

Not hard use a razor blades scrapper or plastic thin scrapper, get the decal warm to hot and peal away. Once you get most of it off I used decal remover and paint thinner to get the glue and residue off.

"Awesome" took some of the glue residue off around the edges of my decals that have shrunk over time. The only thing is to make sure you put a fresh coat of wax on when you are done. Awesome is a degreaser and will take the wax right off the coach.

These problems just go to show another reason why a full body paint option is a good idea. =)

I have a 2005 and I have been wondering about the decals. They still look new and the unit has not been outside much. I also know its just a matter of time before a sticker starts to show signs of age thne cracks.
Last weekend on I-44 between Tulsa nad Oklahoma City there was a unit solid white with no decals. It looked funny but I mentioned to my traveling buddy how he didn't have to worry about being branded by big gotty decals.

I am just wondering if people start taking off their decals because they are peeling, won't Montana lose some free advertising? If you have their name plastered all over your rig they get a free billboard going down the road and in every campground. If you get rid of the decals then no free ads, IMHO. I would think they would want to keep that MONTANA name up front and visible.

Food for thought.

No decals is no advertising, partial decals are bad advertising. That is what will happen when they look at mine.
I just can't understand why they changed decal vendors or if the vendor changed the decals. I know I did not have this problem with my older unit.
