Chairs too hard to move in and out.....
Sue has the duty of getting the inside of the Monte ready to roll, the swivel rockers are tricky to move in and out, so I put those slick furniture movers on them, they wouldn't stay put on the round tubing, so I thunked and thunked and came up with the idea of casters.
I drilled the support cross flat tubular metal, popped in 4 casters and now she won't throw her back out!
Tried 4, it worked so I'm off to Lowe's for another set.
Then I'm going to drink beer and try and find a pool table in town.

That's a super idea, Ozz, one of your best. I bet plenty of folks will adopt that modification. We don't have our original furniture in the rig or I'd be sending Glen to Home Depot right now!

We have the super slides, thanks to JLBOZ60. We now own one of John's original chairs, he put them on. Now, I have not looked at this real hard, but seems to me, he cut some plywood, got that attached to the frame, and the super slides go on the plywood.
SLICKKKKKKK as greased lightening!
Only trouble I have is that I have to stuff blankets or something under and around the base, so the chair does not slide while traveling. We long ago lost the tie downs that came with the unit. Ya, I could go buy some more, but I prefer this method. I can position the chair where I want in relationship to the stairs.

Ozz,
That is a great picture of the “Corona” it looks like you only need to find a Pool Table to fit in the Montana, you already have the best beer, and that way you won’t have to drink and drive.
By the way is that a chair you’re working on????

Aren't they going to roll when you travel? Since we switched the sofa and chairs, we don't have to move the chairs to bring the slides in.
Happy trails...............

My thought would be if a chair could roll out enough to catch on the slide when you start to run it out.....would look twice, otherwise a good idea. If you're ever in the Texas area my suggestion for a brew is Shiner Bock.

OZZ, what a great idea! I have removed the hold downs and put the chairs back-to-back for transporting. If I was to put the casters on, how would you suggest I keep them from rolling around when traveling? You see, I'm thinking in my little mind they won't stay put and I WANT to do this, so figure it out for me! And I do expect you to come up with the answer since you are responsible for a lot of DW's reading about what you have done and expect us other guys to do the same to our 5ers. Drink another beer and then give me an answer! By the way, did I say it was a great idea!

Why not just use locking casters?

I am off to get some casters at Home Depot! This has been one of the only few complaints we have ever had with this unit. Ozz my wife really wants to hug your neck!

Hugs, cookies, brownies, all accepted!
I will make two short straps to secure the chair in-route as Charlie, Emmel and Susie-Q suggested, and Mamalody, I didn't see the locking ones at Lowe's, I got the dual wheel 50# ones, I think, the heavier ones. I think Sue would punch me if she had to go around and lock 8 wheels each time, maybe one strap with HD Velcro on each chair would work. I am trying this route.
In reading responses, I think I may be in a little hot water with the fella's.
Now girls, some of these Mod's are not for everyone, some are not to be attempted except by a licensed goobleknobber, so do not ask hubby to do something that is not allowed..........
(How's that guys??)
(I think I will cut and paste this as a public service message on the mod Forum.)

We have removed those little round rubber feet from the bottom of the chairs and now they are easy to move.

We just bought a set of [a lot] lighter chairs; reduced weight in RV, changed the decor and no problem with moving/not moving. Anyone interested in a pair of heavy OEM rocker/recliners?

Ozz, since I'm a 20 fan, I think I will try Home Depot instead of Lowes!!! Funny thing, Lowes is located here in Troy and I have to drive 8 miles to Home Depot, what some race fans will do! However, it is 19 degrees outside, so this mod may have to wait till spring. Where oh where is spring!
