Question on Dometic 320 Install

Hi All,

Lubing my Thetford is getting old and no longer seems to help the sticking ball thingy.

So, question is: Those that have replaced their Thetford with a Dometic 320 will the water line connect with out any mods? Any other issues with the swap?

Thanks Jim

I needed a water flex line and coupler. Do a search on tweety and you will see the kit, but you can get all of it at Home Depot or Lowes. Chances are slim that the floor water line will line up exactly with the toilet itself. Flex line takes care of that.

I just recently replaced our toilet with a Dometic 320. I cut my waterline at floor level and installed a SharkBite quick connect to the pex waterline with a 1/2 inch male pipe thread in the other end. Then I used a 9" toilet flex with 1/2" female threads on each end. Fit perfect and took me about 20 minutes.

Tried without first...it will leak more and more on you. Just go ahead and make or buy what it takes to do it right. John

Not trying to dispute what others are saying about needing other connections, but when I did it mine lined up pretty easy. There was enough flex in the PEX tubing that I gently pulled it over and it lined right up with the 320 water connection. Mine is a 2012 model so that might have made a little difference. -Glenn

Different rigs and different factory installs are going to make a difference. Figure you may need the parts (either have them or don't do the project out in the boonies or after the stores are closed) and don't forget, if your toilet has a closet behind it, that many of us also had to raise the closet door a little bit.

I used PEX tubing and crimp on clamps when I did mine. I also installed an inline shutoff valve where the tubing come thru the floor so I can shut the water off to the bowl if I need to work on it or a leak.

Looking down on the toilets the dometic connection is a little over 1" further right of the thedford. You might be able to force the pex to connect with no mod. I wanted to put a shut off so I drilled new hole in floor to get it lined up. The cone shaped washer that connects to the toilet is pretty forgiving. It can stand a slight angle and not leak.
I sealed old hole with bondo and decorative flange covered most of hole.
