Mississippi RV Parks

We are planning a trip next November that will take us through Mississippi. Does anyone know of great places to stay and visit in or near the middle of the state? We like full service RV parks (no dry camping).

Here are some of the parks where we have stayed in Mississippi:

Roosevelt State Park, at Morton, East of Jackson. We have stayed here several times and it suits us. We like state parks generally, better than highly developed private parks.

Rivertown Campground, south of Vicksburg. Just a nice place to spend the night when night falls near Vicksburg.

Askew's Landing RV Park, Edwards, MS. About 20 miles east of Vicksburg. A rural family run park. No concrete, just grass, birds, animals, little lake, peaceful. We've always enjoyed staying here.

Springridge RV Park, Clinton, MS, a surburb of Jackson. We've only spent one night here. A well developed urban setting. For us just an overnight stop.

Bonita Lakes RV, Meridian, MS. A small, new park just south of town. We just stayed here one night but found it very nice.

All the parks above are along I-20 which is our most frequent route across Mississippi. But here are some more where we have stayed:

Natchez State Park, pretty obviously near Natchez, MS. It is pretty far out in the country, but has a new section where the campsites are really nice.

We have also stayed across the river at Riverview RV in Vidalia, LA. A really large and nice park right on the Mississippi.

Mississippi also has a series of "Water Parks". We have only stayed at one: Manor Creek Water Park, near Waynesboro in the far southeastern part of the state. Pretty basic camping, but that suits us better than it might suit others.

The final park where we have stayed in Mississippi is a truly sad story. It is Buccaneer State Park at Waveland. Waveland is the little town on the coast that was almost totally destroyed by Katrina (the hurricane). We stayed there a couple of times well before the hurricane and it was one of the nicest state parks we have ever visited. I have no idea whether it has, or ever will, reopen. It remains in the same state as Ft. Pickens campground near Pensacola, FL, one of our favorite campgrounds in the entire nation. It has never reopened since Ivan's destruction.
