Spring Cleaning

Spring fever is here, at least for us anyway. This time of year, the Monty gets a good cleaning inside and out. Wipe down the walls, clean the screens and wash windows, clean the fan and all ceiling lights and vents. Of course the bathroom shower, toilet and floor. This is kind of enjoyable if I take my time and make a day or two of it. However, there is one job that has been a pain and looking here for maybe an easier way. The white underside of the awning gets full of dirt and mold over the winter and is a real chore to clean. Currently use Awesome and a brush. Does a great job but I get soaked with soap and dirty water trying to work overhead to get it clean. I have used awning cleaners that you are just supposed to apply to the top of the awning and just roll up, let sit, then roll back out and rinse.
No luck with that. Unless I'm doing it wrong (but followed directions) this process did not get the underside of the awning as clean as I want. Just wanted to see if anyone here has some tips on a good easy way to clean the underside of our awning.

Have never found an easy way. I just use the mop like devise I use on the side of the rig and a step ladder. Surely someone else has a better way, but if not wear clothes that also need a wash and you'll get a 2/4.

When I had slide toppers ... I used one of those "swiffer" mops with about a 4' arm while standing on a ladder. The head articulates and is sturdy enough to stay in place while swabbing the underside of the toppers. The replaceable pads that come with it work well. You still get a bit messy and the main slide is a stretch to get to the very middle, but so it goes. I just used Tilex Mold and Mildew cleaner mostly followed by a good rinsing.

Just spray it with chlorox, let stand until stains disappear, and rinse with water. Works for me.

I've had good luck with Tilex. Just wear old clothes and try not to stand under the spray at all. I spray it on, scrub a little with a long handled brush and rinse off.

A swivel-head type mop soaked in a solution of clorox works well on the underneath side. Like others have said, wear old clothes, and eye protection.

For the top-side, unhooking the awning arms from the side makes deep cleaning a lot easier to reach.
