Cable Slide Maintenance Question

Our bedroom slide is the cable type system. Any suggestions on what type of lubricant I should use on a routine basis for good smooth operation. Also where would you lubricate for best results.

Thanks!
PS Our snow is almost gone there is hope yet for Spring!

According Bal you don't lub the cables or the wheels on the cable slides just check the slack on the cable and adj as needed. You can pull Bal's web sit up and down load all the information on how to replace and or adj them. very low maintenance on them.

I do put a little silicone on the pulley shafts as well as the drive chain which in some cases is dang difficult to see. The cables are supposed to be stainless steel and require no maintenance other then maybe a wipe down if dirty. The BAL IB is a good guide for any adjustments or cable replacement but as far as adjustments, you need to use your judgement listening and watching the slide as it operates.

I was just looking for other owners who are getting broken cables. I've already paid $750 for one to be replaced, and now I've got another frayed. I'm going to attempt the repair with stainless steel this time, but I'm unable to find the end that connects to the slide. This rig is not even 3 years old, so I'm quite frustrated at this point.

$750 for a half hour job and a 25-30 buck cable!!!! Did the dealer smile as he took your money? He should have had a huge one.

Oh and cables - our current 5er is an early build '14 and to date all cables are fine though do need adjusting too often. Our last and SOB 5er was an '06 and the bedroom slide was a BAL cable and still going strong in 2014 when traded.

Watch the BAL ACCUSLIDE cable repair video on You Tube. It sounds like you have a major misalignment problem

Go to Amazon and get the BAL BA22305 22305 Cable Repair Kit-Accu-Slide, Universal replacement kit. It includes everything you need including the slide connector.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Find the video on YouTube re the cable system. Besides showing how to replace he talks about what causes fraying.

If you are having a problem with the cables fraying you have a problem with the cable standoff out of adjustment! and the cable is rubbing on the metal hole that it is going through it's not hard to adj them at all. there are lot's of YouTube videos you can watch on this subject. I have had 2 SOB and now are Montana 5er and have had no cable problems in any of them with cables. I carry a spare cable I just in case 5 years still in storage.

These cables should last nearly forever IF everything is adjusted right. Did you notice that is I Big IF? In years past I checked many campers with cable slides and never found one that was adjusted to manufacturers specs.

I am always amazed at how easy it is when you don't have to remove the bed or trim. Is there a video that shows how to take apart the bedroom to get at the cables? Also, are the cables always as tight as we saw in the video or does it loosen up when the slide is in?

Unfortunately the bed slide is the worst to do you do have to remove the trim to do a broken cable. But they don't brake all that much on smaller slides if all is adjusted correctly. normally when the slide is out the upper cables will be slake.

The Montana rep was at the dealership the day I bought my HC 384br and was the one who showed me all about it.
He said to rub beeswax on the slide cables.
