Squeaking Steps
Our 2017 Montana 3661RL steps leading up to the bedroom squeak like crazy. I've talked with other Montana owners and their steps squeak. The best camper we ever had was a 2007 Heartland Sundance and they even squeaked. My question, is it going to be a major undertaking to tear out the step and rebuild them? I'm sure it can be done but is there going to be any issues in rebuilding the steps. Thanks for your input.

I didn't have squeaky steps but I did pull them apart as I didn't like the carpet going to the bedroom/bathroom area in our 2015. Pain in the arse getting the carpet off but otherwise an easy job. There was aspenite (chipboard) under the carpet. Step framing is spruce. Everything was basically stapled together which made it easy to modify and likely the reason your steps are squeaking.
If you pull them apart and put some PL200 on them and finish nail em back together I'll bet the issue goes away.
I built hardwood (maple) stair treads and used PL200 before putting them all together and they are likely stronger than most of the rest of the floors etc now.....

They may have overlooked installing the brace under them.

Fixing Steps
On our 2017 - 3810MS we also had a squeaky step. I took some felt pads similar to the ones used on the back of cabinet doors and placed them between the back edge of the step and the riser. That fixed the squeak. It must have been the back edge of the step rubbing on the face of the riser as the step moved when weight was placed on it. Please note that I could wedge the felt bads between the step and the riser without disassembling anything.

My 2018 3721RL has one step that squeaks. Top stair squeaks, but the other one is solid. My steps are semi circular shape so I guess I will just live with it.
