Tough Top Awnings vs. Carefree of Colorado

Hi everyone,

I know there has been a lot of discussion on the forum about slide topper replacement options, and now I have some concrete feedback.

Well, its time for my second slide topper replacement for my 2013 3625RE. Almost exactly 5 years ago (January 2019) was when I replaced two Carefree toppers with Tough Top, and now they are cracking and will soon need to be replaced. So, the net takeaway for me is, regardless of whether you get the Carefree or Tough Top, you will basically get about 5-6 years out of them. We are full timers, so they do get the brunt of the sun all year round, but I really did not see any longevity difference between the two.

The other two toppers and the OEM awning were replaced one year later in February 2020, again from Tough Top, and are still OK but showing signs of age.

Did you have a different experience?

Time to check out Sunbrella??

Happy holidays.
-Howie

I recently replaced two Slide Toppers and a Window Awning with material from Stone Vos RV Awnings (https://stonevos.com/). They are pricey, but material is heavy and caries a 10 year warranty.
