Reese hitch adjusting offset

I have a Reese Elite 18K sliding hitch. In the configuration it shows using the default forward offset for the hitch head. I can flip the center pc around and take advantage of rearward offset to gain 1 1/2" offset to the rear of truck. What are the effects of doing this, will it be worth the gain of clearance and what are the negatives for this? Seems like it would make a little difference, maybe more depending on pin weight. My pin weight is only about 2200lbs.

Thanx - Dean

Hit the scales!! Seriously. Hook up go to the scales take special note of steering axle weight and drive axle weight and then make the change and compare.

If you find the rearward position is taking too much weight off of the front and putting too much on the back then it is not a good choice

I turned mine to the rear to give a little more clearance for the tailgate when I lower it. Have towed a lot of miles and it tows fine. I can't see that inch and a half having any significant effect.
