Heading for Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg

We have begun our winter trek South. Last winter was our first winter after retirement, so we are still novices. We are in the Richmond IN area visiting kids till Halloween when we plan to head to the Pigeon Forge area while on our way to Pensacola (more kids) We would love some recommendations from those who have camped in this area. We have a new 3400 RL (4 slides) so we enjoy roomy sites.
Thanks in advance to all who answer.

Bob & Connie

We are going to be staying in Creekside for 6 nights starting November 2nd. After checking with several people and prices it seems to be the best for the money.

We stayed at Creekside and found it to be a nice clean park and would recommend it. Like Tom had said,it is a Passport America park and as a member of PPA you get a 50% discount. If you are not a member I would strongly suggest joining. It costs just $44.00 a year and you can get that back very quickly just by staying at Creekside. If you do join Please use CW335639 as the referral number. Yes, I do get a $10.00 credit on my renewal but than, once a member, you will also get this credit when you refer someone.

We are at Twin Creek in Gatlinburg along with about 4 other Montana owners. We have been here a week and really enjoyed our stay. Great location that is away from the downtown traffic in Gatlinburg. Grocery across the street and diesel down the road about a mile.

We just left Creekside a couple of days ago. It is a nice park. Some sites are pretty close so be sure and tell them what size rig you have. Staff was very friendly, Wi-Fi was very good where we were (1 site from laundry room #66) I would recommend this park. We are in Charleston, SC right now in the Oak Plantation RV Park and it is awesome. Huge shade trees, large sites and the Wi-Fi apparently works good. Beautiful park. I would highly recommend this park when in the Charleston area.

Thanks to all that responded to our question! If anyone else has suggestions on the area, would love to hear from you. We plan on being in the Pigeon Forge area around the 1st of November. Hope to meet some of our fellow moc members there.

We have stayed at Eagle's Nest on rte 321 at the edge of Pigeon Forge on the way to Townsend. It is also a Passport America park offering a 50% discount for your stay, except holiday weekends or the month of October. The last time we stayed there it cost us $17.50 a night, that was half price for full hookup. Nice clean park with the shuttle making a stop at the office every once in a while, don't know the schedule off the top of my head. Big sites and fire rings where you don't singe your awning.
They also have a neat chain saw wood carver on site that does really nice carvings! Will go back there again if my dw can EVER talk me into going back to Pigeon Forge AGAIN!!!!!!!

River Plantation www.riverplantationrv.com/ is an excellent facility, especially the concrete sites very large, my first choice

Just stayed at Pine Mountain RV park couple of weeks ago and while sites are somewhat smaller than river plantation there are a few on river that are very nice. Also downtown Pigeon Forge close to everything and trolley route..

Enjoy area and fall colors

We liked Twin Creeks in Gatlinburg. It was a nice quiet park, close to the NP entrance. One of the park's borders is shared with the National Park. We looked at River Plantation in Pigeon Forge, also. We liked what we saw but wanted a monthly site. Their monthly sites were booked up for four full years, so they said. That was 2 or 3 years ago.

We are completing a 10 day stay at Twin Creeks RV Resort. Met TimandSusan (Hello!)and have had a great stay. The park is very nice, well kept, and the owners are wonderful. We have had a creekside site and the view is very nice. The sites on the outside perimeter are good. The colors on the trees are expected to be at peak by the 11/1 weekend!!
