Morning Everyone, Well DW and I have decided on the 2955RL Montana...it is a YES!

We had a Cardinal 31-2BHLE and while it was a good unit we had no need for the bunkroom anymore (DW wanted the back window veiw) Yes we are going down a bit in length, but we feel that basically it will just be missing the bunks is all, give or take a bit storage. We really like all the options that Montana offers and we feel the price for the unit was alot for the money also. The trouble we had on our Cardinal
unit was the ladder,furnance, microwave and compartment doors, which were all taken care of fairly quickly from our dealer. With the Montana we will be at a bigger dealer,and they seem to be good so far. So I am hoping that we have good luck on this unit. We will pick it up on the 25th of this month providing everthing passes inspection. We appreciate all your suggestions and we are very happy to have found this site and to be members! We always welcome any last and future advice too!!! Thanks everyone all your help was so appreciated!!!

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love your Montana. Ours is essentially the same size but with a different kitchen layout and we think it's the perfect match for us. The 2955RL is a great choice and don't be concerned about down sizing. Lorraine and I have been fulltiming in our 2955RL since October 2003 and have all the room we need. As a matter of fact we have more storage than we need. When we downsized from the stick house we really did "downsize". And we just participated in a park wide yard sale and got rid of even more unnecessary stuff. The cabinets above the recliners are now for the most part empty.

Keep in mind that "bigger" is not always better. We bought ours from a "bigger" dealer and once they had our money they seemed to forget all about us. Quite often the little guy puts more emphasis on service after the sale than the sale itself.

Congratulations on an excellent choice. We, like Glenn and Lorainne, have the 2955RL and still put it at the top of all Montana models for our use. We have looked at the new models as recently as a couple of weeks ago and still did not find one we would really like any better. The smaller size is a plus for us (and we know it would not be for everyone). We like the fact that we can use all the functions without opening the slideouts. We can get to the kitchen, toilet, dining table (we have done all these)--We could even spend the night without putting out the slides (we haven't done this yet. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours.

Yes folks we believe you will enjoy your 2955. There is no question that this unit is large enough for most anyone, buuuuut with that said Maureen & I always keep looking at something bigger! Enjoy your Montana and we look forwrd to your future questions.

I think you will be very happy with your choice. Remember there are a lot folks on here that know a great about Montana's and are willing to help us new Montana owners if we need help. I have a 2955RL and we really like it.

Welcome to the whacky world of Montana land. Obviously we agree with you. That's why we own one ourselves. My only input is for you to do that extremely detailed and arduous pre-delivery inspection and don't be afraid to "hurt their feelings" while getting the little glitches reconciled.

This is business, so use very firm and determined "niceness" until it is right. Both you and the dealer will be happier in the long run. Your greatest position of power is before you deliver the check or sign the papers. Have a great adventure.

Congrats on the new Montana. I think you will like the 2955 alot. Even though this is our first rig, we don't think we could have made a better choice. The rig is real comfortable, and we think has more than enough room for the 2 of us, plus our dog.

Before my purchase date, I went to dealer and asked service manager if I could do a "Pre-PDI" walk through, to see if there were any things I could notice(cosmetics, no systems check). He was more than happy to allow it, and I found a few cosmetic things that they were able to fix before delivery date and my final PDI. This made the PDI go easier for me.

congrats on your new 2955 we have a 2002 we bought new not to many problems .The biggest one we had was emergecy window over desser blew open gone down road and smashed and did fiber glass damage and decal .Not sure if we didn,t latch it or it worked loose it is now #1 on our check list along with sliding doors between shower area and brm.Dealer took care of window and fiberglass we where happy. Welcome HPRUM2000 to the MOC Family.

A friend of ours had the exact same thing happen with their emergency window. They also cannot be sure if they had it latched properly or not. They were a bit luckier as the window did fly clear of the trailer and therefore they had no other damage.

Congratulations on the new unit and welcome again to the MOC - as you have already found out there is lots of advice to be found here and what is most encouraging is that nearly all of it is very useful.

I would repeat earlier advice - your dealer is a most important link and the PDI should be thorough and unhurried. There are several suggested PDI lists on the forum (do a search) that will help no end.

2002dura: The Pre-PDI is a great idea. I would like to be able to do that too. When we were at the dealer when we finished haggling it was closing time and I would of liked to looked at it one more time. I will have to call and ask them that. Thanks for the info on this.

Congratulations on the new Montana! The 2955 is a popular model, you'll find numerous 2955 owners here. It's a beautiful rig. Others have given you lots of good advice about the pre delivery inspection (before giving them your money) and I would just echo that.
