Intimidating task done

Winterized Hannah today. I will admit, I was intimidated to say the least. It turned out to be no big deal as many of you know already. Although it is the second winter for her, last year the dealer did the task after working on the water system. My main concern was the black tank flush and getting it cleared. As I read the Keystone manual, there was no section describing use of the winterizing port. I discovered I could use the outside faucet to feed anti-freeze through the black flush and as I was concerned about the lines from the tank, I used the faucet to "power fill" until pink came out the tank drain. Next year will be a breeze! I can't believe how much area dealers get to do this simple task.

Yup, they collect to winterize it, then to store it, then to ready it for spring. It's a big money winter deal for them.

It really is outrageous what the dealers charge to winterize an RV, but there are some owners who do not want to attempt these tasks and have the where with all to pay to have it done. Personally I will not pay for some kid who very likely has less knowledge than I do about the system to perform the task.

I really don't see the need to try to winterize the black tank flush line. It is located higher than the inlet hose and certainly higher than the tank, to me it is like looping a hose over a rail, both sides will drain and there will be nothing in the line anyway. I have not worried about it in the two winters I have had the Montana.

Jimmy just so you don't get too snug n cozy there, we are sending you down some nice Arctic air in the next few days, we want to be good neighbors and share what we are will be enjoying with you, will try for some white stuff as well.... I think the Montana Arctic package should include a Yukon stove, kerosene lamp and long johns, note to Keystone.

Well BigSkyJimmy, here in the NW we still have bugs, snakes, and other nefarious critters, but not the HEAT. That's what I couldn't take. In the NW eh? Well, if you are ever around the Portland area, let us know. Sorry for not knowing, but does "BigSky" mean from Montana? My wife is from Hot Springs and Missoula.

We have never had to winterize either of our Montana's over the last 7 years as our plan to stay in warm weather has worked out. We did winterize our previous 4 rv's and had no problems doing that.

We never winterize ours. We have full hookup in our yard and when we are home we just leave her in full operation mode.
