AirConditioner for Bedroom on 3400RL
I am considering a second A/C for our 3400RL for the bedroom. It is prewired.
Please offer any advice or input. I have looked at the DuoTherm 13,500 btu Penguin for lower profile. The back A/C is a Duotherm 15000 btu from the factory.
Also any websites where I may purchase. Thanks. Dennis

Dennis,
I have the DuoTherm 13,500 btu low profile with heat strip in the bedroom of my 3400RL. My only regret is: I wish I would have done it sooner. Having that second unit is a life saver.

For clearance issues, the low profile would be a good move. I would price them around your area. (shipping is expensive)

Carrier also makes a low profile unit. You might compare.

I bought the Carrier low profile unit on e-bay from Family RV Repair Center. The unit is a 13.5 BTU 7.5 inches in height with the heat strip. Do a search on e-bay for low profile Carrier A/C. I've been very happy with the unit.
Good Luck!
Lou

We went with the Carrier V low profile. If memory serves, it was 7.5 inches vs the Penguin at 9.5 inches tall.

I also went with the Carrier low profile and we are very pleased with it. It is 2 inches lower than the Penguin.

I am not sure what Keystone installs from the factory on front A/C's. Maybe someone on MOC may know that. My 3400rl is wired and the opening will accommodate either Duotherm or Carrier products, maybe even Colemans.

We also have the Carrier V low profile and I am so very glad we do. With the temps at 103 and above this summer the single AC would never have been able to keep up. Even since we got back to Florida we have had some Hi 90° days with matching humidity. Again I am so very very happy we had the second AC installed.

I also went with the Carrier low profile but it was less than $100 to got with a 15000 CFM over the 13500. Since the idea was to cool it faster I think it was money well spent. Cools down my rig in about 30 minutes from 90 degree to 75.

Thanks everyone for the great input. Most of you that provided feedback went with Carrier so, with 5RVERS referral to a website I was able to get a new Carrier 13.5 low profile unit at a very reasonable price. My RV center will put it in for us.
Thanks again. Dennis
