New and eager to learn

We are buying our first RV tomorrow and we are eager to learn this way of life. Not full timing but will be out on the road regularly.

Picking up a 2023 377FL.

Don’t hesitate to ask ANY question. Most folks here have been there - done that and can help with nearly anything!

As this is your FIRST RV be sure to learn from others.

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL A THOROUGH PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) HAS BEEN DONE AND ALL FAULTS ARE CORRECTED!!!

There are tons of horror stories here and on other forums about after the sale warranty repairs. Things may happen anyway, but doing a thorough PDI first greatly reduces the number.

Where do I find more info on this PDI you ask? Well right here on the MOC , in the files section. are a couple. Try this one as it is the most complete one I have seen in a while. https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...?do=file&id=87

Oh yea, welcome to the MOC!

During our unfortunately brief PDI - DW quickly figured out that they had pulled the wrong unit out of inventory. She knew immediately when we walked inside and said “This is the wrong unit. The unit I picked had the TAN tile backsplash!!!”…and she was right! And thank goodness because shortly before we walked inside the tech was showing me the convenience center and (for no reason that I recall) there was a bright blue electrical flash that popped behind the InCommand BCM panel on the other side of the basement. The tech said “let me call someone to check that out” - then he said let’s go look at some things inside. The BCM was probably fried to a total loss - but I did not know what it was at the time. Two strikes and that unit was OUT!

DW was absolutely right. We stopped the PDI and they had to tear up all the papers and write up the unit we picked out at the RV show. They put us up in a nearby campground in our old RV overnight and we started over the next day. The second PDI went better!

Thanks everyone! We are going through our PDI this morning but won't take delivery until next week.

Printed out that PDI checklist and we think that is very handy to have.

I second what everyone said above. If people here can't answer it is because there IS NO answer! LOL

So we did the PDI today.

4 hours of using the checklist (Thank you so much for that). It really helps you remember things as well as exercise all the options of the rig.

It was at Camping World and the orientation lady soon got overwhelmed with my questions so one of the lead techs came out and we started from square one again. I learned a ton and we recorded the more technical questions with the wife's phone.

We found about 10-12 issues and it has delayed the delivery of the rig until everything is fixed. We did not pay them as they requested and walked out until another inspection is scheduled. We asked for a full roof PM procedure to be done since the unit sat on the lot for about 9 months. They agreed as they should have.

Overall not too bad but one of the Schwintech slides was out of sync due to a bad roller.

The other items were cosmetic or a maintenance item.

Rather it be right then argue later.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome to MOC. The pre-inspection is very important. First trip out I went to flush the black tank and water dumped into the basement. The tubing had not been connected on the back of the control panel. Try everything in the unit.

Welcome to the MOC! You came to the right place. I hope your dealership is close by. Once you do the PDI and and take delivery use is locally as much as you can to ring out the bugs. You can return it for 12 months to fix anything you find under warranty. Enjoy your rig!

Be aware that Scwintek slide systems are problematic at best. Especially on larger slides. Can’t believe manufacturers still use them.

Do some research and be sure you have an understanding about them before you take delivery.

Sorry… but want you to be aware.

Welcome from NY to the MOC and welcome to the RV life. You are off to a very good start by doing that very thorough PDI. Not only did you find issues that needed attention, but you also acquired much valuable knowledge of your rig.

We have a front living room with two Scwintek slides with sofas and have not had any issues in 5 years, knock on wood. I think it helps to always complete the cycle in or out and not reverse direction midway. So good that you caught that need for adjustment.

We pass by Thomson several times a year in our trips between Cartersville and Charleston SC during our winter stays. That's a very nice part of the state.

Here's hoping you have many years of building wonderful memories in your travels.
