Converter

I pulled the electrical panel today (adding lights in the cabinets) and low and behold, there the converter is, just laying on the wiring and heat duct (underbelly duct). Wonder what those craftsman thought they put those holes in the base of the converter for? Another project for another day. At least all the connections on the panel were tight. Is this the standard procedure on the converter, or did someone just fail to mount ours?

Will, I don't have the same model as you, but mine was screwed down to the floor. Sounds like yours got overlooked.

I have a 329RLT and the power panel is mounted in the base of the kitchen cabinet which is boxed in, can’t see behind the panel without pulling the breaker panel. I hear the fan in the converter so I am pretty sure it is part of the power panel assembly and not a separate unit. The book on the power panel shows models where they are made together so I assumed this is what I have. Do I need to pull the unit and check?

I have a 2006 329RLS, which is the same layout as your 329RLT, my converter is seperate from the electrical panel, it's mounted on the floor behind the panel in the base of the cabinet.

The power to the converter was "Piggy-Backed" onto one of the receptacle circuits, so I installed a seperate 15 AMP circuit breaker for the converter so I could control the power to it without shutting down half the power in the 5er.

Don't know what to tell you on that question. I just don't like the ideal of that thing bouncing around where it is located. I would think the panel and converter are basically the same in all units. The front panel is an AC and DC distribution panel, and in the space behind it is the converter. It is a small (maybe 5" sq. by 10" long) box with a fan on one end. I'm thinking of making an access panel to the converter from the basement.(panel is right beside the stairs and could be accessed under the bath room)

Cyrus, that's an excellent idea on dedicating a circuit to the converter. Hopefully it will be a little cooler here in the next few days. Got hot quick in here yesterday with all the power off.

I really wondered if the dealer might have left the converter loose when they installed the second AC, but there was no need to fool with the converter, so surely they didn't. Thanks for the replies.
