tire gauges
What do you suggest for a tire gauge/inflation pump for our Monty's?

Harbor Freight has a 12 Vdc compressor kit for about $50. That's what I have. It is not fast, but it works. It came with a gauge that screws onto your valve stem.
Camping World has a very similar kit for $150.(I think)
Or, you could get a small AC compressor.
It's whatever you prefer.

Here is what I use:

I like it because it can be inserted into the wheel slots on the rear dually on the TV (not sure what you are towing with). I am anti-extender for the valves and this guage holds the pressure reading until you press a button to release it. Not a bad price either. Still working on a 12V DC inflator pump, I also will be interested in what others are using.

Wow! 300 PSI and only $12.99 - It almost seems too good to be true. does anyone have any experience with this model?

WOW!!!!!!!! It probably lasts about 1299 seconds and has an air volume rated in days rather than minutes or hours.

My personal opinion and thoughts: For $12.99, I will try it, will try to get one in the next week or so. If it doesn't work, I will simply take it back to Harbor Freight and trade up to a bigger, better, faster unit after researching and MOC consultation (odd, every purchase I make now is some way influenced by the MOC!!!! - sure glad I don't do the grocery shopping-LOL). On our previous TT, I added a 12V DC outlet (automotive ciggarette lighter kinda' deal) to the TT frame so I could reach all wheels with a 12V extension cord and my "el cheapo" air compressor - no tow vehicle required.

I would have to agree. I have found most of their cheap electrical tools are just that; cheap. I use a few of their pneumatic tools. They are OK for occasional use, but nothing to write home about. I bought one of there compressors, and it went to the junk dealer. It's all made in China. There are very few things I've seen come from China that are worth a crap. Look at the recent tire recall, and the current Fisher Price toy recall.

Several years ago while traveling in the mountains of Idaho or Montana, we must have been 30 miles from civilization 110 deg outside 1lane dusty road and thick with bugs we had a flat tire. No problem I will just get out and change it. After installing the spare released the jack the tire went down to the about the rim. Must have had about 5psi in it. I happened to have one of those $13.00 12vdc pumps and it took a while to blow up but it worked and we finally got out of there before it got dark. Cheep price for a little insurance.

I am also watching this with extreme interest. I have passed up these cheaper (actually upwards of $60) compressors in Walmarts, etc because of the negative reports from the MOC stating that they do not work on our 80# tires - regardless of what they rate them for on the box. But there must be something out there. I will continue to monitor this topic with interest.

I bought a Black and Decker 12v/120v inflator from Sears. Most 12v cords won't reach from the TV to trailer tires when hooked up. W/my extension cord and 120v, I can do while in CG or where we have access to AC. Seems to work pretty well. Not fast, but will bring tires up to 80#. See

In 2002 I bought a Sears Craftsman 2hp 125 psi air compressor. 110, single cylinder oil free. I use it all the time to inflate truck tires, trailer tires and bike tires. Not a bit of trouble in 5yrs of use. Cost new in 2002 $99.00. One of my better deals. About the size of 3 shoe boxes.

This is the Harbor Freight air compressor many of us have bought and used. 12V and 150 PSI. It works well. Is it industrial strength? - probably not. But it has inflated a lot of tires in the last year.

A few months ago I bought one of the Harbor Freight air compressors for myself, then went back & bought one each for my 3 sons after being happy with the way mine functioned. It worked the way I wanted. Last week I was in a Costco Store & saw a similarly priced one that was about the same size, and really was similar looking, however this one claimed to be a high volume unit, able to inflate a truck tire in 34 seconds! Darn. Seems like there's always something just a little bit better not long after I've spent my money on what I thought was what I wanted at the time! I imagine it won't be long before someone on this forum gets this newer one & reports back on whether it really does what it claims. mike

We used to do a lot four wheeling where we were always airing up and down and had an onboard air compressor that was an old aircondioning compressor. Course if you do that you nolonger have A/C.
Then when I got rid of my hardcore rock crawler I bought an Quick Air II. Works off 12v and I wanted a longer reach so I just took a 50 foot ower cord on cut the cut the cord on the Quick Air and but standard 110 plugs on each side. Inorder to avoid mixing the end up I reversed the end on the Quick Air so it would only use the right power cord.
Quick Air works great almost as fast as the compressors in a tire shop. Very compact in size. The only real down side was cost of close to $300. But I felt well worth the money.
I use it for filling tires, blowing dust off, and losts of other things.
