Water Heater Switch won't turn on
Is my water heater 'dead'? The on/off switch is stuck in the 'off' position. Does this mean that the heater froze?

I would say no. Those are cheap rocker style switches that have been known to fail quite often. Change the switch first.

Spray the switch with WD40. Let it set a little and then try it. Kerry

That is a common problem. It is just the switch. Put a piece of wood against it and tap with a hammer and it will usually come free. Then just leave it on and turn it on and off from the breaker inside the unit or replace the switch.

Got the furnace working. what's the difference between a 30A LittleFuse #257 and and an automotive ATC 30 amp fuse? We had 2 blown fuses. We put the ATC 30's in and it is all owrking. The water heater is still in off on the outside - but it fired up? Maybe the previous owner disabled the outside switch. We turned it off outside. But Whew! At least it fired up. Now we have to drain everything and put the anode rod back in. I don't know know what I would do without this web site.

The outside rocker switch is used to run the water heater on electric power instead of propane.

If you travel with the Fridge running on LP, DO NOT refuel your Tow Vehicle, or park anywhere near where having it running could ignite fuel spills, or fumes!!!
Be safe, shut it down while refueling, or stopping at a Fuel Stop, or a Propane Refilling Station.

OMG! There certainly are a lot of rules. I am so glad you mentioned that. I think since we will be stopping at every Flying J on our way to Texas - We should just use our ice chest. We have no idea what to expect for mileage so we will stop often. At my age my memory isn't as good as it was when I was 30 (or 40, or 50 even). Just to make sure - I don't think we will use it on the road unless we are going less than a tank full of diesel. Better to be safe than sorry.

Where are you going in Texas? If the Rio Grande Valley, be sure to check the thread on the RGV lower down on this Forum. There are some gatherings where there will be lots of MOC members to talk to. Good luck, I think you will do just fine on your trip.

We don't travel with the LP gas on the frig. I just freeze several water bottles and put them in the frig after it is cooled down. I keep ice in the freezer. Both of them stay cold, even in Texas heat, for hours as long as you don't open it up several times. I just place the water bottles back in the freezer that night and reuse them the next day.
Happy traveling.

We do the same as Coleen--freeze some 1/2 gallon milk jugs or quart bottles and put them in there to be on the safe side! If you have time, you can start up that frig and freezer well ahead of time and cool it down good. Then put your stuff in it and it will remain cold until you get to your campsites nightly! You know you can adjust that refig by sliding the sensor up the fin in the back some. That will make it cooler! We do that also and never travel with the frig running on LP. Safe trip!
