More Big Sky actual weights...
I will post another thread about selling our stick built and moving into the Big Sky but for now here is some weights that may be of interest to a Big Sky looker. We are not full up but have every thing we need to live in the rig full time, with an abundance of clothes as Jackie is still working for a few months and our winter clothes are here, all tanks are empty.
Truck:
Front axle is 4,560 Pounds.
Rear axle is 3,160,
Total truck 7,720.
Big Sky:
Pin weight is 3,380.
axle weight is 11,860
Total Big Sky 15,240
Total rear axle is 6,540, (capacity is 6,150) or over about 400 pounds.
Total truck and Big Sky is 22,860,
I am about 1,100 pounds over the trucks GVWR of 9,900 pounds.

Pretty close to 20% for the pin weight, though.
Good luck.

Dick--thanks for sharing the info on your weights. Interesting to compare your numbers to mine. My truck, without the Big Sky attached but with Jo-Anna in the truck, the Kipor generator in the bed and with 38 gallons of diesel fuel, weighed in at 8,720#, about 1,000# heavier than you. But my Big Sky weighed about 700# less than yours-14,530#--with a pin weight 600# less than yours--2,790#. Wonder what causes you to have a higher pin weight? I did have about 1/3 of a tank of fresh water, which would have dropped my pin weight a bit. And my hitch must be a bit forward of the rear axle centerline since the Big Sky put a 160# load on the front axle.
The big difference between our situations relates to the GVWR of our trucks. I ordered the 11,500# GVWR option on my F350, so I have just enough cushion in my weight rating to handle my heavier truck and still stay right at the GVWR of the truck. But I'm pushing my GCWR for the truck and rig, so I keep telling Jo she can't buy anything heavy. LOL!!!!
Glad you were able to sell your house despite the lousy housing market right now. Hope the time flies until you get to join us on the road. Boy are we having fun on our Great Adventure!!!!

Congrats on being ready to live in your trailer. Just a few more summer paint jobs and we will be heading out for Az. This winter will be a lot more comfortable with our 5er than last winter in our smaller tt.

I was wondering for those that have a 2008 Big Sky if the weights have changed.Has anyone weighed their 2008 to find actual weight of unit such as hitch, etc? We can not get the answers we wanted from dealer,I would trust real world weights not a dealer crystal ball.
